Hole in Track

I have a "gash" not rip about 1.5 inchs by 4 inchs in the middle of the track (Camoplast Ripsaw) Can I ride with it since its in the middle and not tearing.
Bought sled and noticed too late it was there.

Any advice!

sew it up. has this been done before, ill post a picture tonight. New track too :(
 
mine had the same thing . studs let go , then i thought about it . hu if that track lets go ? i could wipe out alot of stuff #$%&* . new ice ripper for me, and now i have TRACTION :bling:

ive been told by many people now that because its in the middle worst that will happen is it rips to hole and stops there. what do you think.... its sucks because its a brand new track. if it was old then sure buy a new one but brand new. holes caused by shock letting go.

what happen stud let go?

boy i would be nervous cruising along with that under me,,did you call the owner up and complain?
 
daman you shouldn`t worry,you don`t cruise more then 30 mph with you sleds...lolllllllll..Just had to say it.. :hide:

Can`t believe a shock would of just punched a hole thru like that... :shock:

cant afford a camoplast ice track again so gonna go kimpex studed. I appreciate your advice

hey people port their tracks, i might try heating up the edges and see what happens liek porting
 
cool!!!!!!! give it a shot,just brace for an abrupt stop somewhere down the line.Practice how you can throw your body over the handlebars a few times so it won't hurt as much when it actually happens...loll
 
I have been porting my tracks for a few years now, that damage is not like porting in any fashion. I will ride in the middle of BFE with lugs torn off and cords exposed, but you tear is far too long to ride on unless it is an emergency. Good news is you can cut the track in half and use it for a traction mat for the trailer. If you loosen the bolts at the bottom of your control rods before removing the skid, the skid wil be easy to take out and install.

had a friend loose a track at 80 on an icy road. good thing for him it was a straite empty road.

think about it. your back end is now riding on the slide rails, nothing else. You've got no brakes, and you're lucky if you can keep it from turning sideways. forget about steering.

a damaged track isn't something to mess with.

could always try this gentleman. i have one grouser bar coming through where a lug went missing on my sled. i have about 6000km on my ripsaw and it is the outer band that this happened to. worth a shot and might be cheaqper than a new track. cheapest one i can find is a 1-1/2"x15x136 track here at royal in the clearance bin for $600.00+tax.
 
We did the same in Tug hill on my buddies Cat track, put the shock through ,it and he is still riding it to this day 4 years later so it's your call on replacing
