Hello everyone. I just bought a 99 SRX for $200.00. The guy put a newer motor in hauck quick shift clutches a new track and so on. He said it devoloped a vibration. He parked and hasnt messed with it since. I picked it up checked compression 135 psi in all 3 cylinders. pulled the cover off the servo motor for the pv cables and found all 3 rapped around and twisted. pulled the power valves and one of the cables was busted. Could that be the vibration? I took the carbs off also and havent taken them apart yet to clean them. Thanks for your time.

crank
Has the crank been updated on that sled?,, 98-99 had crank issues, they would twist outa phase when running studs.
updated/repaired cranks were welded from the factory
have your dealer run the vin# see if it's been fixed..

Is there a number on the motor cause its a new motor he gave me the old with piston closest to the stator and crank junk. Just for grins I fired it up befor I took it upart and all seemed fine to me no irregular noises or anything. But I shut it off right away cause I didint wanna break anything. The motor mount look good also.

the vin is on the tunnel i do believe thats the one you use, check to make sure they both(org. engine) match.

The original engine was the one that blew. The one in it is a new motor there is not picks in the this track or the old track either.

I could only assume that its a 99 then. If the cranks bad it should lack power and vibrate all the time?

Yes... but most of the cranks were recalled and done!

sweet how are the 99 s pretty quick I had mach1 700 triple 2 years ago and thing moved. BUT MY 99 SXR WITH A 136 KIT WAS a much nicer ride. Can i put a 136 kit on my srx without worrying about the crank. No studs

yea you can put a 136 under it,you'll need to re clutch and re-gear for the added lug on the engine, like i said above tho if thats a 99 motor the crank should be welded it still could twist with the added torque from the 136.68cornetrt said:sweet how are the 99 s pretty quick I had mach1 700 triple 2 years ago and thing moved.
