Redoing my Viper

Well unfortunately I hit a deer with my sled right before new years. It got totalled and was going to buy a nytro or apex but I love my Viper too much to get rid of it. anyways...

I know Vipers suck at top end. So, I have to play with the do some stuff. I dont want to modify it but what is some gearing advise, small engine mod?

And im a pretty small guy. how are you guys getting it to set up better or cornering and suspensions.

And what are some cool accessories u got?

Ok.... guys i need to beat a ProX 2. haha tell me what to do

I hit a deer on my dirtbike once if you can belive that lol. (busted me up pretty bad too.) I suggest clutching your viper, a rear skid upgrade is a big improvement (edge,sc103,extra 10/12) go with an inch and a quarter track, raise the bars up, pipes are a huge power gain aswell. Do that and youve got yourself a pretty sled. Oh ya and shoot those buggers haha i suggest 270 win. lol
 
haha. Yeah it was definately a huge shock cuz me and my buddy split to go home 12:30 in the morning. I just got out from a woods and going across a meadow and never saw it. idk how i hung on but I actually bent the handle bars back. spark plug wires and up and demolished.

anyone hear of thinning the headgasket? does that make much of a difference? i know I will have to run premium then

gives better low end response but the added risk isn't worth it IMO,try a search lots of info on that mod.

P.S. this is a Yamaha forum of course we've heard about it. ;)
 
ok. well daman wud u just suggest piping it or stick to the clutching aspect and good for the right gearing
 
vipers have good compression to start with adding more is really not needed or recommended and pipes will kill mileage along with allot of time testing and tuning getting it dialed in.

how do you ride 90% of the time? you want to go crazy or just looking for a little to add.?
 
well... im a mixture. I love going balls to the walls but I enjoy boondocking. pretty sure im going to put a 136" under it this year.

I want more power but dont want the maintenance so more like a little to add. Love my fuel economy and I know what theyre like once you put pipes on. horrible.

I know Vipers are not racers, so I want to make it a 0-90 sled having more low end and that should help playing around too.

Im not a very big guy so how it rides really doesnt matter but I want a sled that I can get set up good for the woods.

Ok then i suggest do a search in the archives and tech section for clutch set ups that would yield a good amount of performance right there like keeping in the sweet spot or 8500 at wot,keep in mind once going 136 you'll need to re gear and clutch.
 
I would go with the tripple pipes personaly. Espeicaily if your thinking of putting on a longer track wich is going to take alot of power and my gas mileage isn't great but no worst than similar sleds.
