Ok guys, after looking at all the srx's getting rebuilt on this site...mine is starting to look a little long in the tooth, I have a few questions for you guys. now the rebuild will start at the end of this riding season ( I think we have a riding season this year? ) So, my questions are:
- when I pull motor, should I do a total re-build, or just rings?
- is there a good guy to send the motor to over summer
- should I do trail porting...I want it to be reliable for sure, on prem. pump gas
- best place to look for a good used m-10 or similar rear frame
- how much will a total motor re build cost? with and with-out porting...ball park ?
Thanks guys, this site is great...and I will take tons of pic's
The rebuild has to start this spring, as this is when my 73 MGB will be finished.

hey since we live in close proximity ,we should both get together in the summer and rebuild both our SRX's and have them ported also.We could do the rebuild together and learn together.2 heads are better then 1.What you think of that?

Good idea blue , go right down to the crank seals , you can't budget for the re-build , youll know when you get there , it's just one of those things , either you don't do it or do it right , ya know what i mean , trail porting is very safe and shows a great acceleration difference

Ya Blue, that sounds good, let me know when, I think I will do the trail porting, but I am still on the fence a bit. I am going to weld up a sled lift soon. I can't bend over on these things anymore. Building my MG killed my back.

we just have to find ourselves a good shop locally who does trial porting. There have to be a few around, but would like a recommendation from others on who to use.Maybe some of the other local TY'ers can chime in here on that subject.I would like to pu my piston, rings, gaskets, seals, bearings, etc ahead of time as money allows me . Proibably would re build both my sleds...depends on the over all costs.

I feel the same on the builders...lots say they can, but I don't know how good they are, I don't mind shipping it out...if they are realy good.
Chris Bondi does good work. He's located in Ontario, north of Toronto. Thats a guy it would be worth shipping to.

Blue, there is a shop in Wpg that I get all my powder coating by...he did all the parts for my MGB, if it is all the same colour, and you can wait 2 or 3 weeks then he will give great prices. They did 5 wire wheels for my car in silver metalic for 100.00, gave him a blue box of parts to do in gloss black $40! great guys.
