viper won't start

Help,
2003 Viper been sitting since last March. Mice got to it, but I can't find any wiring damage. Pulled carbs, all appears good. Battery dead, but tries to fire with pull cord. About every 4-5 pulls, backfires. Checked pipes, all clean. Any ideas? Have spark, and fuel, at a loss. Luckily the Apex starts when I turn the key.

Where did the mice get to? Airbox? Exhaust?

Definitely clean your carbs and put in fresh fuel esp. if it's been sitting for 10 MOS.
 
tries to fire. Every 4-5 pulls it will backfire. Checked alll 3 plugs, each have spark. Mice lived in the thing, but mostly packed the light pod. I thought maybe the needle in a carb was sticking, but all 3 shut off fuel supply when floats rise up, so I am at a lose. Timing, compression, ?????? Don't know where to look next.
 
Totally cleaned carbs, pilots out, mains and float needles. Some tarnish, but no dirt. Did the gas directly in the cylinders before putting plugs in, same results. The backfiring lead me down the road to check if maybe a float was sticking open and letting gas into cylinder. Rains are on the way, so I guess I'll let the grass grow up around her.
 
If the sled came from factory with a battery and battery is dead dead, It will limit spark output.......
 
It did, and I now have it inside to see if it can be revived. Once the battery is back at full strength, I will try again. Thanks.
 
when my viper sits that long i have to run pre-mix in the cylinders about 5 times before the fuel system is primed enough to run on its own. Make sure nothing in the pipes and try fuel in the cylinders a few times. How many times did you do the fuel in the cylinders?
 
carbs! blow out with compressed air , air bleeds , jets everything then check carb switch (tors) bypass them to see if that my be the pro. check stator plugs & pick up clean & plug back in check grounds to GOOD LUCK!! :letitsnow

Right,sometimes you need to do it a few times.
 
Finally got back into the Viper. No good. Backfired so bad this time when the exhaust pipe settled back in the exhaust donut was cracked in half. I pulled everything off, air box, carbs, plug wires, reeds, exhaust pipe, and silencer box.

Looking in at bottom half, there is an awful lot of fuel (I guess) down in the bottom of the motor. I have never had a sled apart this far, but my gut tells me when it sat somehow the crank got flooded. Is this possible? Is there a place to drain the motor?
