viper oil seal

The seal goes on to the impeller shaft and into the crankcase with the flat surface facing out of the crankcase. Be sure to lube the impeller shaft before installing it.

thats the way i have it but it still leaks oil what is the reason for the lube on the shaft

The lube on the shaft is to prevent the seal from being damaged by running it dry until oil has an opportunity to reach the seal lip.

The seal should bottom out on a shoulder in the crankcase or up against the impeller shaft bearing righ behind it. What is the condition of the bearing right behind it? Does the shaft have any lateral play?

it has a new shaft new oil seal and new bearing.i didnt lubethe shaft would that damage the seal i put it on dry
