How do you prevent your belt from being stolen?

Where are you snowmobiling...in the hood? I never heard of such a crazy thing and I have been sledding for over 30 years. A guy caught stealing a belt off a sled is a good way to get your a?? kicked, big-time. It's like camping, you respect your neighbor's stuff and don't steal it.

The GPS device I use is worth $550 - I take that with me when I park the sled.
I've heard of them being stolen!

Never had a belt stolen, but it's just as easy to take. Hell, if some little shit wanted to make $1000, he could easily steal 10-20 belts on a busy weekend (i.e. Hotel parking lot, lunch stop, ect...).

IMO I wouldent lose sleep over the whole belt thing. Put the new belt on and keep the older one in the holder. If your that scared of it being stolen put it in a backpack and take it with you.

I'm not kidding when I ask this....

How do you take the belt off? Haven't had to do this yet.

I watched a video on Youtube of someone replacing the belt on a newer Yamaha sled - rotated the "helix" to loosen the belt and then pulled it off.

Does the same go for 97-2002 Vmax's?

Also, please explain which is the primary and secondary drive. I'm guessing the primary is attached to the crank, where the secondary is attached to the chain case???

Someone I was riding with had their spare belt stolen from a hotel parking lot. It was a polaris, I'm surprised they didn't take mine as well.
