I have gathered most parts but like always I am running out of time. I have the 51/43 Helix, stock weights,4.5 rivets, 3.1 rivets, stock springs but no engagement shims ( could not find on Yamaha's page) I have stock jets and gearing and have not touched the head gasket. Can I do this with stock head gasket and jets and gearing? Will it make a difference. I am just trying to get off the corners faster. (oldest sled, heaviest rider). I am leaving Thursday and dont want to pull head then find problems. I want to wait till next year and rering engine.

Lots of guys have done it without the rejet or head gasket, me included. I did do the gear change but you shouldn't let that stop you. You'll be fine.

w/the poorer fuels out there every year/day, i would stray away from the head gasket mod and leave the richer stock jetting in there. you can still run TURK's setup, but you may be down 100 rpm or so, from the horsepower loss, due to not upping the compression from the thinner head gasket. if that's the case, you can just lighten up the tip rivet by 1g.
