HELP??Long travel Rx1 Skid no travel?

i just install a 03 rx1 skid in my 97 sx 700. everything went well but i had to put the transfer rods in the first set of holes and they lined up perfectly. they were in the back holes when i brought it home. so my problem is i have very littly travel i can jump up and down on it and it bearly moves. my short travel skid had alot more travel....is there something i could have put in wrong/upside down...it feels like something is holding the springs from compressing. and help would be great.

Why did you have to put the rods in the first hole if they where in the back ones stock?

i disconected them so that the holes ins the tunnel for the center shock mount bracket would line up easier...i red somewhere in here that it helps...which it did,,but the transfer rods wouldnt reach to the back holes when it was all bolted in. but reached the front holes perfectly...would this be causing my binding? the rods wont adjust far enought to reach the back ones

so upon removal of the transfer rod the suspension moves freely. is there a different place to bolt the top halfs of the rod....some one must have run into this before me lol....

ok so i swapped the nylon bushings from the top of the rod to the bottom and theres enought to put the rods in the back holes....got my suspension back...took it for a ride and it rides like a dream...never going back lol....only issue is i have lost some steering....any way to get that back?

Did you loose steering or are you just sitting higher making you top heavy. I put RX1 shocks on my stock skid and opened up the travel stops as far as it goes and the ride is great. Does not handle as good but my 50 year old back dont care. I used to bottom out 5 or more times a day and now I dont do that in a week. My avatar is how mine sits.

You will have to pull up on the limiter straps to give you a little more ski pressure or extend the front suspension so it matches the rear. longer ski shocks maybe?? or drop brackets for the front shocks.

As far as moving the shims around, the skid should work perfectly the way it was stock. Lining up suspension mounting holes is always a chore, most suspensions need a little persuasion to get them installed.
The trick to installing a Proaction suspension, is to remove or loosen the bolt in the lower end of the transfer rods. This will give you some play in the suspension to line up the mounting holes.
Put the shims back where they were and re-install the suspension.

where do you get drop brackets for the front?

Im not sure who sells them, Ive seen a few different ones on the site. Some people have fabricated their own also. Check with our advertisers and Betheviper.
