1998 vmax 500 xtc

I was wondering if there were any performance exhausts for my 1998 500 xtc? I have found no pipes from Bender and AAEN that will work.
 
Yamaha had performance GYT kit pipes, but I do not think for the 500. There probably were never any pipes made for it - there would not have been a demand for hi perf parts for the 500.
 
Aaen is the only company that makes twin pipes for that sled. Good Luck finding a used set there like non existing u will most likley have to buy them new.
 
Thanks for the feedback. I am not having any luck finding any pipes. I am looking for a different sound for my machine. Any suggestions?
 
What about a can? Cheaper than pipes and it will drop some weight and sound different. Or is the stock exhaust a one piece pipe and can like my VMAX?
 
throw a mbrp trail can on it and call it done. changes how the sled sounds but there is no performance gain other than some weight loss.

all the guys on here who raced those sleds told me pipes where not worth the money and time as they made the sled much more finiky to keep in tune. best bang for the buck i found on the one i had was the reed notch from the tecpages andf vmaxjhons clutch set-up from the same place. mine ran really strong with that set-up as i was kicking 583's butts on the lake and in the trail.
 
It is a two piece pipe. I haven't been able to find a can either.. Any ideas where I could find a good one?
 
well bender and hauk used to make one for it. could also try mountain performance and www.royaldistributing.com in clearance as they are cracking down on them here. they also fit the 600cc twins as well so you might have to look for that one instead.

i will ask my younger brother if he wants to sell the mbrp i had on my 500 as he put the stock can back on. probably needs re-packing though as it was on for 6 years.
