Anyone had any experience around an 01 srx with aaen triple pipes? I am looking at buying an srx which currently has them. the guy said last year in 1000 feet on ice, running an unstudded track, he ran 104 mph. said the clutching could use a little bit of tuning, said it spins around 8600-8700 right now with the pipes, and should be at 8500. is this correct? it has 3050 miles, and is asking $2700 for it. Always been in an enclosed trailer, has cover and stock exhaust for it. The track is a 121x14 .92 phazer track. Said pilot jets were gone up by 1 size, needles were untouched, and main jets increased 2 sizes with the pipes. This sound correct?

Am I better off running the aaen triple pipes if I did buy this, or going back to the stock exhaust? I know the aaens are expensive...

Also, how loud are they? I am going to look at it on wednesday.

sounds like it will need clutch work, 104 seems a little slow, I would run the Stock pipes, sell the Aaens, they are REALY LOUD! almost too much, I would go stock pipes and a can. I have Stock pipes/ Stinger cans, and it sounds good, but dose get a bit too much after a long day in the trails.
I would also put a 1 1/4 track on, with studs, but that is just me. Sounds good though. good luck

so a 104 in 1000 feet on ice with NO STUDS is slow? said he has a clutch set-up off here in it, different spring, weights, helix etc. i will look into it more. if its clean i may buy it then can post everything about it.

the aaens are loud? he told me they are only slightly louder than stock, and the hauck growlers on an older srx he has was way louder.

whats the recommended clutch set-up for this? and why would you go back to stock, the aaens claim 2hp peak hp gain, while shedding 22lbs...

I have had Aaen tripples on my SRX for a couple of years [I ceramicoated them this past summer]. The info on jetting ect that the individual has told you sounds pretty accurate.

Some points about the Aaens:

Noise: mine are not much noisier then stock[if any] + way quieter then my stock pipes were with a Bender Can. My Aaens are the latest ones built, maybe the earlier ones were louder.

Performance: if you are after best speed, I would suggest you stay with the stock system as its about as good as it gets for a stock engine and very hard to improve on.

Weight: the Aaen pipes are close to 20 lbs lighter! This is the reason I run them and don't plan on changing them.

If you keep the Aaens, run them around 8500RPM for a stock SRX...thats what Aaen recommends and I have found they work better at 8500RPM then 8300RPM so keep them on the higher side of the revs.

i am running aaens rite now ...as far as sound they arent much louder than stock ...and are suppost to be one of the olny pipes that dont lose power ...and the jetting sounds about rite ...mine is 150`s straight across ...if i remember correct ...if you buy the sled run them and see what you think of them ...i am very happy with mine

Wow , guess that I must have listened to a diff set of pipes, the ones I heard were very loud, sorry guys. I just feel that the stock pipes are just as good as aftermarket....but hay, that is why we all have diff things on our sleds.

sounds like they are a little loud ....when i have 2 sleds running side by side the one with the aaens is just a little deeper rumble at idle ...when on the gas they both sound the same ..the weight savings is great and it gives you alot more room on the chain case side ..and on mine it works out great since i got a reverse kit on it

Would anyone be concerned with the sled having 3000 miles on it? How many miles are most people going before rebuilding etc...

3000 is not much ...re ring them around 3 to 5000 ...seen lots of srx`s go 10000 miles before ever being opened up

Food for thought.... Some "kids" go and buy performance pipes then proceed to remove the packing from the silencers to get noticed. So if it is a little on the loud side it may be time to repack the silencers. Bandit

I honestly don't know if my Aaen's are as loud as the Video at full throttle. I know at idle and low RPM they don't sound any louder then the stock pipes.
I do think the Aaens are fussier to temp changes, that is why I coated mine. I also believe one of the reasons the stock pipes work so well is due to the heat shields that keep temps relatively consistant.

If anyone is interested I've got a set of aaen srx pipes i'll sell. They are in nice shape. I bought them from a guy on the site here, and have never ran them in a sled. I'd take $250 shipped in the lower 48 for them. Can email pics. PM me an email address if interested.

Nope, decided to stick with the stockers or if I come across a set for cheap I'll try the bender big bore pipes. I'll happily send them to you and you can demo them for the group though:)
