I hear you there. If you suddenly stumble onto some cash let me know. Not like I've been actively trying to sell them or anything.

yea for sure. i have been gathering parts for dyno tests. im only like 15-20 mins from bikeman performance so someday im gonna do the dyno test.

aaen pipes r loud, but the hauck growlers (old style) are louder

there are 2 styles of the hauck growlers? so if i ordered new hauck growlers they aren't as loud as previous ones? I heard there were 2 sets of aaen pipes made also, the first set being loud and losing 10 horse, and a newer set that are quieter but don't have the HP loss... anyone else heard this?

i dont think u loose hp, and the old aaen pipes r louder, not a hole lot... and the new style growlers r still very loud... old style is noticably louder for sure, i LOVE them

how much louder is the new style growler compared to a bender since i can read your sig and you "love" lol. i will have to hear the aaens on wednesday i guess. i hope they are loud enough to give me wood. otherwise stock pipes will go on, sell the aaens, and buy some growlers

the growlers r much louder than the bender, the bender has medium loud idle and below 5000rpm, but not to loud on high rpm, nice sound tho. and nothing is louder than the growlers

and i wouldnt reccomend after market pipes on an srx to ANYONE (that i like, or on ty forum) lol. the stock pipes are great

have you heard aaens in person?

i know you guys say stock are best, but the guy has them on the sled already and says its wicked fast... i am also getting the stock pipes with the sled, and would suck to switch a nice set of aaen pipes out for stockers. i guess i will have to run them and see how they perform and see what beats me :)

i have heard aaen's in person, the old (loud) ones on a 2000 srx. they do sound good, and my srx is faster... and could u get both sets of pipes?

and its not that aftermarket pipes slow u down, its that u will pop the engine... if u are into doing radar runs and high speed running.

I am getting both sets of pipes. I am going to run the aaens unless something drastic happens. the guy has ran them for 2 years with absolutely no issues. And he has done many radar runs and long WOT pulls down the lake without popping it. Where is your proof that running aaen pipes or any aftermarket will pop your engine? I also am very skeptical on all this talk about pipes slowing them down... if this was so, pipe manufacturers wouldn't be making pipes... I would like to see dyno charts proving this...

also how much faster is your srx? your clutching may be better... plus stock vs stock your srx has 4-7 more hp than a 2000...

the guy i am buying from claims it buries the speedo, and it outruns his boss's polaris that has ran 117 on radar.... seems knowledgeable. member of this site, and has a few turbo'ed sleds... i think he may know his stuff. no offense

2000 and 2002 have same hp...? the 98 and 99 had the few less hp. and mine may be clutched better, but so was his, he is a yamaha mechanic that knows what he is doing. and my srx goes 121mph on radar, so it would also out run that polaris. and about them blowing up, a friend (probably best mechanic there is on anything) who has had every year of srx (knows every yamaha sled up and down) said that every srx he seen with pipes on it blow up... i wont go by anyones word/experience but his so i wouldnt put after market pipes on an srx. but if it works good and hasnt blown up yet i would leave them on i guess. and this is my thinking, how does a different set of triple pipes gain 10hp...?

who said they gained 10 hp? but if they did, size length of chambers, how the waves travel through them, headpipe size etc... pipes are a science... how does slp singles make 10 horse over a stock single pipe on other brands?

i know the old twin cylinder srx's would blow up all the time stock, but never heard of anyone blowing up a new srx by running aftermarket pipes and PROPER JETTING. i could see how someone could just swap pipes and blow them up. if its jetted correctly they should never blow from the exhaust pipes themselves.

i can't see a srx being loud w/aaen pipes, as the aaen pipes i have on my viper, are 99% the same thing and my viper isn't much louder than a stock srx at all. its quiet and doesn't attract DNR's, or piss people off. just gives you enough of a tone to let the trained ear know that the sled isn't stock. also, just because you put pipes on a srx, doesn't mean it'll blow up. proper jetting and setup cures/prevents that from happening. sounds like your buddy there yamahahaha, hasn't had properly jetted srxs. also, you ask about how can a different set of triple pipes make more hp than a different set of pipes? well, just like Spinner18 said, different pipe dimensions. why do you think the benders, slps, psi, and cpr pipes for sx-r's, make more HP than the aaens?....they just had better dimensions, that created better waves, that pulled more air/fuel mix into cylinder and pushed more back into cylinder, before the piston closed off the exhaust port, which = more contained mixture for more HP. just because a sled has OEM triple pipes, doesn't mean they can't be improved upon. Spinner18, sounds like that guy your buying that srx from, has it setup right....meaning correct jetting and such.

but hey, if the sled works well, leave them on. they wont slow ya down. and the older aaen pipes were pretty loud, but a few years ago they made them quieter. they should have an option of both

like i said above, i will take his word over anyones...

I feel that is not very easy to find pipes for an srx, compared to other sleds, which makes me believe that;

1. It's not much of a gain for the $
2. They give you more of a chance of failure
3. Stock is better
