hard to pull 01 srx

My srx is a really hard to pull when its cold and it seems to be getting worse, once its warm it easy to pull, can even do it with one hand, put after sitting out in the cold for a week it takes both hands and pullin as hard as i can to turn it over, i thought i had a possible bearing going out so i pulled the plugs and its still hard to pull, and than i turned her on her side so i could pull the belt, and with the clutch the motor spun very easily, it seems i can spin it with 1 finger without the plugs in if i use the clutch, but the recoil is still hard to pull, do the recoils somehow get ice in em? i am the third owner of this sled maybe someone greased the recoil? i cant figure out whats wrong with the recoil to make it pull so hard. #$%&*

I'm not aware of any known issues with the recoil but you may have brought up another variable that hasn't been discussed. Mine is also noticably harder to pull when cold but not enough to cause a hard start (at least for me anyhow). But this could help explain why some have issues and some don't.

What was it that SSB said... things that make you go hmmm.
 
its well known that these things are pigs to start when its gets cold. dont think theres anything wrong with the recoil. if there is....mine, along with many others have the same problem.
 
Hard pull..

Steroids should help, or maybe turn the key off and practice. It is what it is. My rebuilt SRX is no joke when 0F outside.
Just your primary clutch, is the belt hanging up?
 
The type and quantity of oil you are using can have an effect on cranking effort.

Conventional and even some synthetics oils have a pretty high viscocity, and get pretty thick when cold[like grease]. If you have a lot of residual oil in the engine from a fairly generous fuel oil ratio it can really add to the cranking effort as well.
 
Some here seem to think it is the nature of the beast. This would suggest all do it. I can assure you mine doesn't.

Maybe I'm tugging harder knowing it's cold and harder to pull over. Search for a long thread from a few months back which discussed multiple issues (cold hard start, long soak hard start and hard start after summer storage).

I can't tell you what I'm doing right or why mine is easier but don't expect much help from folks that have given up and are just living with it. I tend to think it is the guy doing the pulling but also think it's worth exploring/discussing possible causes.

just flip the choke when your shutting down the sled for the last time of the day. the extra fuel washes down the oil from the cylinder walls so your rings dont have to scrape it off when its cold in the morning. This is an old trick that is forgotten from time to time. Worked great for my vmax 4 years ago and on my tripples if I knew it was going to be cold.

X2...I shut all my sleds down this way.

I even shut down my Sno Blower Tractor with the choke!

LOL!

I do choke it to kill it and i only use amsoil oil in it, i think im going to take apart the recoil, i weigh 260lbs and its all i can do to grab it with both hands put all my weight into t and pull, once its warm though i can barely pull on the rope and it turns right over
