I'm down to basically one last bug I'm trying to work out... I recently installed SLP pipes on my 02' 700MM with no other motor mods except reed notch(stock HG).It is setup exactly to their specs for 0-2000elv. and 0 to +20F, #147.5 across, needles at stock #3,pilots stock at #45, air jets at #1.0 stock. They did say 1 1/2 turns on pilot screw (which is wrong, we all know that). Carbs are clean, idles not high, TORS adjusted correctly(after new carb side switch). Plugs if anything are a tad on the rich side but not bad when I ckeck them after a long pull. I have no bogs (low, mid or high rpms), just trying to clean up the lower rpm range. Sled seems to be loading up on tight slow trail sections (1/4 throttle maybe a little more) and slow speed carving in deeper snow. It does clean up instantly with more throttle and runs strong and clean mid and upper rpms. Before I spend the money on new pilots....

My question is, When I adjust the pilots to 2 turns out. The throttle response is there and it sounds good, but the idle hangs bad. I turn it out another half where the throttle response is down a little, and the idle hang is 95% gone. By changing to the next larger pilots #47.5 will it possibly help low end performance and help cure the idle hang problem? Or will I just be spending money just so I don't have to turn the screws out so far? Also, what exactly does the AIR jet control? Thanks guys, Soc

The air jet is the jet that mixes air with the fuel in the low speed circuits, you may be able to go a little bigger on the air jet and help out your issues from idle to 1/4 throttle. I have almost the same issues with my '00 SxR with Bender pipes... It seems pig rich at idle a little fat way down low and when I adjust the fuel screws even an 1/8 turn in the Idle will hang pretty bad. My problem may be that I have 55 pilots I may have to go down to 52.5 or try and change the air jet...

Just to make sure you are talsing about the the jet that is in the throat ofthe carb right?? That is the one I am talking about.

You may not ever get rid of the idle hang with those pipes. Its the resonance of the pipes, they make there power at a certain range at idle. I have never been able to get rid of my idle hang with those pipes!

Yeah, that's the one.

If thats the case, then it would make since that the next size larger air jet would clean up a rich condition at 1/4 throttle and a next size larger pilot would allow me to turn the screws back down and help take care of the hang. Thanks bandit, Soc

I run the same setup exactly but raised the needle to #2. Instant difference. I run SLP recommended 8CR weights and 14.5mm rollers on 01 SXR 700 and loved it. I also have reed spacers.
