I took my pipes off my SRX and saw a few drops of green coolant. Think Im gonna do that top end sooner rather than later. Was wondering 2 things: 1, anybody know of someone who can do trail porting in the SE MI area? and 2, about how much would it typically cost?

I am open to the cyl exchange idea as long as the nikisil plating is good.

Get with Mr.Viper for porting, he's in Ohio so its not that far from you.His work has excellent reviews and it should cost you 5-600 bucks, thats just a guesstimate though.Pm here or on hardcoresledder if he doesn't answer.

bender racing or full power performance trail porting makes the most h.p.. the proof is in the jetting. mr. viper recommends stock jetting w/ his trail port. bender's & full power is minimum 155's. dynoed trail safe 158 h.p.

Look at the date on that thread, REALLY!

I'm not saying that that was a good experience. What I am saying is that it was years ago. I mean really, many people have had good experiences with Bender. As far as Yamaha goes they have the fewest aftermarket suppliers of all the major brands. Does anyone have any gripes that occurred recently? Obviously there were a couple of owner changes and a transition period.

Please for the love of god and our discount, give it a rest. They make some of the best stuff out there. No one can disagree with that.

Hmm, I spoke with him about porting and he told me I'd be jetting up with his setup on my sx-r.

Well, I've had nothing but good experiences with MrViper's trail porting. He has always been there to answer my questions and is offering me a free update on my old porting to bring it up to his new specs. Not to say that I dislike Bender either, I've run a lot of their stuff too, but I would talk to MrViper also. I'm totally happy with his work.

swede the question was srx trail porting not sx-r.
when bender racing was sold to rich daly he moved the business back to tim bender's complex where it was before tim sold it to terry paine. the move & transition to a new owner did in fact affect customer service for a short period of time. things are now back to running smoothly. however, don't expect to send a motor in for modification & expect quick turnaround service in the height of the busy season. anybody that promises that is not being honest or they're not busy to begin with. try calling or emailing the best engine builders this time of year & you'd be lucky to even get a response. if an engine is modified w/ stock pipes & the builder recommends stock jetting & the engine doesn't burn down, then it's making stock h.p..

Unless the stock jetting was overly rich (i.e. 2001 SRX) to begin with.

Would 158 hp. be with everyting else stock ,case, airbox, reeds, heads etc?

Sounds alot to me for just a trailport, more like a lakeport?

arn't all your jetting specs for vented to air box? if so wouldn't 152.5's vented in the pan be flowing more fuel at max rpm. also what year srx comes stock with 152.5's.
