I have an 03 Viper that had some issues today. When I started out, the warning light and engine light would blink once every 3 to 5 seconds. that lasted about an hour and then went away and everything was fine. A few hours later, I noticed when I would brake the dash pod would shut down. When I hit the gas again it would fire up like when you started the sled. Also did it when I hit the hi/low lights. Along with that, the head lights and tail lights are very dim as is the dash pod lights. Not sure what a stator is or does and same with the CDI box! but I figure it might be one of those. If anyone could help that would be great since I have a 3 hour ride home tomorrow!!!
Sounds like the stator is on the way out to me .

Stator = Makes electrical power for the sled
Price = Used from $100 and new from $200 and up
You will find the stator behind the recoil/pull start thingy located on the pass. side of the engine. You will also need a damper puller to remove the damper to access the stator.
Check the wiring harness as well. Look from the handle bars down to the pass. side footwell. Sometimes the harness will "rub thru" causing wierd electrical issues.
does it have electric start ? mine did some wierd stuff like this when my batteryc took a dump.
If it has a battery check that out first, then go from there.

No battery so no electric start. I just found it weird that the brake lever would cause the dash pod to shut down. Could wire rub thru cause that? Plus, do you think the flashing engine light was telling me something? I don't have a manual so I can't check the code. Sled only has about 3500kms on it also.

Will the sled still run fine like that to get me home tomorrow? Or will it possibly shut down? Other than the above issues it ran strong.
