You don't need to be dumping oil in the gas. This has been covered and it actually LEANS out the mixture even more. The oil pump gives you enough oil, even after a rebuild.
To me it sounds like your carbs need cleaned and you may also have a powervalve pullthrough. STill runs ok but doesn't pull without the powervalves. ALso, what are you revving at? I'm just wondering about clutching.

X2!!!
If you thinks its lean, check + clean all jets and use 2001 SRX jetting specs to be safe, and run well, on a stock engine.

belt?
WOT can alter belts
so many times I see riders beat their head against the wall trying to find the gremlin in performance... new belt=performance
couple weeks ago one of my buddies couldn't hit 100 on Gogebic, I put his new belt for him, presto- 107-108mph in fairly deep snow conditions
be sure to wash the belt first!!!

Good point on oil. We changed steering post last week so I pulled carbs and buddy took them to work/dealership to have head mechanic sync and he said they were lean... so I noticed that first time we fired her up that it didnt seam to smoke as much. So we added oil to tank just in case. Oil pump could be out of adjustment? Sled pulls to 8100ish out of hole then goes to 7800ish and works way up... by that point if I'm not looking ahead I'm looking at the speedo. Dont really know what I have for clutching. I do know red spring is on primary and secondary is a Maxx performance roller. I am 6'4', 260 and have hit 111ish... so it works for me. I am NOVICE, but learning my way around slowly... especially this year unfortunately. I would have no idea where to start on dialling the clutch in.

Belt should be good, year old w/prob a few hundred miles on it. I just cleaned sheaves last week and knocked em down w/some fine sandpaper. Our lake was about 8" of the fluffy stuff w/no base to hook up on. So I though 80-85 was good, but I could be wrong. No studs either.

Usally...premiun is regular fuel,no ethanol, but not always.Zack1978 said:A couple things are interesting in this thread.......
1. The "shitty" gas issue is mentioned. I know I must us super in the SRX, and the E10 is not good for it. The last few fill up's have been in either VT or NY and only with non E10 gas. Is non E10 gas still shitty? I have also used the Star Tron additive at every fill up.
2. Based upon what I have read, the stock jetting is the best for almost all gas and conditions?
Thanks,
Zack
just keep your WOT pulls to a min and you'll be better off, if i do a WOT pull witch is very seldom i may add it's for a few seconds at that, been riding for over 20 years now and not one burn down to date.
id rather ride but hey thats me.....

I agree... it "should" be good, try a brand new one anyway, worst case you cross that off the list as the problem
blasting through that 8" could have overheated your belt just enough to cause your problem
Your rpm's are too low. WHat is your secondary wrapped at? I would clean it and reassemble 10 to 20 degrees tighter.
If it is at 6 and 1 right now then ypu add the numbers to get 70 degrees wrap. Just go tighter to get your rpm's up to around 8400 constant pull. Quit watching your speedo until your rpms are right. SPeedo is not accurate what so ever anyway. When rpm's are right your speedo will go higher for sure and yes that fluffy snow on the lake really kills top speed.
Have you had the powervalves out? Does someone have the adjustment tool? They make a big difference when setup.

If there was/is a PV valve issue wouldn't there be a light code?

only if you have a sticking/stuck valve, incorrect adjusted cable or servo problem,a pull through wont set off a light.onewickedr1 said:If there was/is a PV valve issue wouldn't there be a light code?
