1998 srx vs 2001 srx

i have my 98 srx with little mod s. i ve got a bender can, boisen reed s just peddles not cages, and a viper clutch, my stock clutch blew up a few years back and that s what i could get. it s off an 2004. my track is a rip saw, and i have a brand new yamaha belt.
My brother on the weekend bot a 2001 srx, and we went for a ride, his apears stock, only stud s, i thought i would get him because i m about thirty pound s lighter and my 98 seen s to clean up alot of other brand s with 800 twin, but when we raced he was pulling hard mid range and also out of the hole, it s makeing good power because i would be about fourty pound s lighter with the can, i was wondering if the 2001 were built with more hp than the 1998, or is it clutching where he s gettting me, i also herd that the 2001 s were ported different, it sure sould be nice get me ahead of him. Any help would be great.

sounds like just clutching ... if u put a clutch from a viper u will need to know the weight in there .... viper doesnt use the same weitgh

'01 was a little faster but it should still be comparable to your '98. When you got the viper clutch did you put the weights from your srx clutch in there or just put it on as is. check it out & let us know what weights & spring your using.

As stated above the 00-02 Srx did come with a few more Horsepower. Also the porting is different than the 98-99 SRX. 01 is believed to be the best year of SRX's

My 02 is fast but not much faster than my 99 was. Maybe a sled length or 2 and 1-3 mph on top but otherwise all year 98-02's are fast!
