I am looking at buying an 02 SRX it has 4900 miles on it, how many miles can I get out of it before rebuild, on average? Also he replaced the hood with a hood from a 99, said he had to drill a hole for the yellow light, is that the DCS light he is referring too?

Theres guys on these forums with 12k+ and havent even opened up the motor yet, Not sure what color the DCS is as i dont have it.
As long as the the previous owner kept up with the maintaince, its hard to tell. Might want to re-ring it over the summer if you do deceide to buy it. Also it wouldnt be a bad idea to do a compression check before buying the sled.

she's time for rings,will it still run for a long time? yup,,do a search on piston rings so i don't have to type,you'll be reading for a wile.

thats good for compression 140 psi is a new motor remember its a triple lol

I did mine at about 7k on my '01 and let me tell ya it didn't really need it but man new pistons and rings really woke it back up!

Could use rings but 02's with DCS likely will go longer on the original pistons and rings...

Rings and pistons, check power valve cables and valves, especially where the cable slides into the back of the valve. should be good to go!!!! some will say you dont need
