My guess is there is no oil in the chain case. Thats the housing that the black knob was in top of. Probably where the grinding noise was coming from.
Take the chain case cover off and see if or how much damage is done.
Seal might have went out on bottom of case or bearing on oppisite side went out causing axle shaft to shift and allow oil to leak past seal.

Do u guys think it would be a bad idea to jst fill that thing from oil and go from there
Well you could try that if you wanted to. Just don't go too far from the garage. It will only take you 15 mins to pull the cover off and check the gears and chain. The oil must have gone somewhere, most likely the seal is gone. White smoke and grinding noises most likely means that there is some damage and continuing to run it without checking to see what may be wrong is just plain foolish.

I agree you need to do some more trouble shooting here or you could be costing yourself some $$,check things out pull cover off the worse thing your out is a cover gasket.

you sure it's not the break?

well i took out the bolt(drain) on the bottem and nothing came out. So i took the brake off and removed the case cover. It was bone dry and there were some metal shavings in the very bottem that i cleaned out. the chain looked alright and i proped the back of the ski up and it all spun fine. I replaced eveything and added atf until it came out of the bleeder bolt. Started the ski up while it was proped up and everything was fine. I put the ski down and tried to ride it into the garage. Got the same squelling noice. I took the hood off and my cuz noticed that the belt was slippping causeing the noice. its looks like its slipping on the rear clutch but im not sure. can i adjust that one or what should i do next

The manual says you should use 75 or 80 weight gear oil in the chain case. Atleast there is something in there now. As for your belt. Get a new one sounds like belt is to long for your sled or that worn down.

its not the belt it was brand new and it worked for liek 10 miles i think if that was the problum it would have started when i put it on not 10 miles later
