when i see people saying red and green secondary springs, is the whole spring red? i just bought an 01 srx, and in the secondary, I can see a black spring with just a little swab of red on one of the coils, does this mean its a red spring?
curious as to distinguish whats in the sled now etc. the guy i bought it from said he used turks set-up as a baseline and went from there with the aaen pipes, still pulls 8700 on top end though, and he said the weights in the primary are maxxed out on the tip and i would have to go to a different style weight, and change what weight is where in it etc. not too sure. I came from polaris and our weights we could never put rivets washers in etc.
how can i tell how much weight is on my weights now? alone with telling what springs and helix he has installed? thank you
also, where can i get a cheap priced primary clutch pulled?

you will need to weigh the weights. if the spring is black and has a red dot, its a red spring.

For springs yes theres paint marks on the spring,as far as weights look on them also will have a stamping on then.

if it's turks set up it;s probably 8dn20s with 4.5 gram rivets in each hole.Spinner18 said:so now i need a scale for my weights? geez.... this is getting to be quite an investment even finding what is in it haha

well he said used that as a starting point. is that the max you can have? he said i can't add any more tip weight unless going to a different profile weight.
also, do i have to pull the seconday apart to see what helix is in it?

well yea you can remove the 4.5s add a 1 gram washer to the new 4.5s and peen em over, should bring it down, what are those pipes recommended rpm?
why anyone would want aftermarket pipes on a trail srx is crazy imo.

8500 rpm. he had them on it, along with the stock pipes. put the pipes on because they weren't suppose to lose HP and 23 lbs lighter than stock, while having stock sound levels.

if you're revving 200 over, leave your weights as is and try a softer spring. you can also check the tension (wrap) on your secondary spring. If you drop 10 degrees, you might be where you need to be. This isn't the ideal way to do it, but if your secondary is too tight right now, that could be your issue. Check the tech pages for clutch spring info.

i will check what wrap it is, along with primary color and post back this weekend. i will try changing it one setting softer wrap and see. how will i be able to tell if the belt slips or not?

clutches will be hot and you'll have black marks on the primary.Spinner18 said:i will check what wrap it is, along with primary color and post back this weekend. i will try changing it one setting softer wrap and see. how will i be able to tell if the belt slips or not?

so by going to a softer secondary setting, if belt slip occurs it will be in the primary? i would have thought it would have shown in the secondary. new to clutching here, i appreciate your guy's patience with me
