I own a 2008 apex 40th anniversary edition. when I let off the throttle the sled almost comes to a complete stop without touching the brake. All my other yamaha's just coasted to a stop causing me to use my brakes. This sled does it on its own which is fustrating. At high speeds it is not a problem, but in the woods it is. Is it a clutch issue or is this how it is suppose to be. This sled has all the bells and whistles so is this just one of them for preformance. Please help because I can't stand it.

Them 4 strokes have alot of engine breaking.

If this is your first 4 stroke then there is the difference its called ENGINE BRAKING. I did not notice it as much when I drove a 2010 Vector this year, but the first time I drove a Apex after 2 strokes all my life it took some getting used to. In the long run you will get used to it and the benefits of no oil smoke and miles of 4 stroke torque and reliabilty will out way your fustration. HAPPY TRAILS !!

as stated, 4 strokes have a LOT of engine braking. What you're experiencing is the same as all of us deal with. When you get used to it, it'll come in handy, well at least you won't notice it as much. Yamaha came out with a "coast feature" on the 2011 model. Here's how they describe it:

"Engine Braking Reduction System
The new Top Performance Genesis 4-Stroke engine features the unique Engine Braking Reduction System. The system allows a small amount of air to pass through the fuel injection system when the throttle is released, giving riders more of a “coast” feeling."
