The 600 has a good engine( I believe) but has been crashed hard. The 99 700 has burnt pistons and one bad cylinder. How much from the 600 engine will fit the 700 engine? ie: carbs, exhaust, cylinders, etc.? Is the stroke the same with the bore different or are there other differences that I am not aware of ? I am just interested in making one good rideable sled and then plan to sell off the other good parts. Any thoughts or suggestions do you experienced guys have for a Yamaha novice? Thanks in advance.
Do you by chance mean SX and not SRX?There was no 6 or 700 SRX in 97,not til 98.If you are talking SRX engines then the bottom ends are the same the differences come in the cylinders, heads and CDI the rest should be the same with mabey the carb jetting being different between the 6 and 700's.

I understand the 1997 SRX 600 to be an early release (spring order only) sled.
I may be mis-informed about that information but I believe it to be true. It does have the Ohlin shocks that I was told were only available on the spring order sleds.
The SRX 700 is a 1999 model. I hope to use the 600 engine in the 700 chassis and part out the rest of the 600.
I was told that the early model SRX's had some crank issues? Some might need to welded and trued. The 600 only has about 2500 miles on it. Is this something that I need to address now or can I wait until it has more miles on it?
I appreciate the info that you have passed along to me. Thanks.
