Is there any merit on installing a restrictor in the radiator hose coming from the Y at the front heat exchanger that recirculated the coolant back into the motor? This is the hose that plugs into the bottom of the thermostat housing. My though is it would force more coolant to go through the radiators instead bypassing altogether and going back into the hot engine. I not talking about pluging it, just restricting the orifice down to about half.
The thermostat already provides that function. I would not put any restriction in that Y. In the cold position the coolant makes the turn at the Y and skips the coolers. In the warm position the thermostat blocks off the pipe from the Y to the t-stat and forces the coolant to go through the coolers instead.
If you are having flow problems you may need to replace the thermostat.
