99 Vmax 500 speedo stopped working

Any idea what usually goes bad with the speedo's when they stop working?

Thinking of ordering new speed sensor, yamaha calls it "METER GEAR HOUSING COMP.

Just wondering if maybe its the cable to the speedo or what.

It's usually the pin that connects the drive shaft with the speedo gear housing that breaks. It usually breaks because the drive axle bearing is worn and needs replacing.

Ok cool, and yes my drive Axel bearing needs to be replaced asap. Thanks for the info!
