What is the horsepower of a 2000, SRX 700? And what is the cheapest way to up it?

145 hp 2000-2002 1998 to 2000 138hp

2000 srx 700 142hp @8400 rpm and tourqe is 91.7 @ 8000

first make sure youre getting all the power to the ground with good clutching, then porting is the next best bang for buck

what made the 2000-2002 have 7 more hp than the 98-99? jetting, porting, timing, something else?
They have different heads (slightly higher compression) and port timing plus a higher wattage magneto.Pauljones said:

If I remember right AMSNOW dynoed the 2000 and newer SRX at 142 and the older 98-99 models were in the low/mid 130's.

How many HP can really be gained by porting...Who does trusted porting? My big brother has a 02' MXZX 800 with twin speedwerx pipes and good clutching, I want to beat him on the trail and the lakes but I'm in stock form right now besides 144 picks, a ripsaw, bender silencer and reed spacers.
