Doesn't everyone have to rebuild their sleds multiple times under 4500 miles......or is it just me? I have never made it over 4000 miles on any of my sleds with out a blow up.

There's a guy on here that had over 30,000 km's without a rebuild!
I had 11,000 km's when I sold mine, without being rebuilt.

Friend had a 1998 MSRX700. It had the crank welded, but when he bought it, it had 47 ish on it, and the speedometer cable was broken. It made it just over 10,000 miles, when we suspect the oil pump let go. Havent opened it up and that was 3 years ago, sounds like a rod or something broke as it turns over, but not very nicely.

What you really have to watch anywhere over about 15,000kms are crank seals!! Even if you're running good it's wise to do the seals and rings (while you're in there) at or around this mileage. It's preventative maintenance!
a hair over 15000 miles on my piped 2000 SXr before I put rings and pistons in this fall. I bought the sled from my Dad at 5400 miles and he already peeled head gasket. 15,000 miles on Walmart TCW-3 supertech ($10/gallon) for all you oil haters!!!!!! F your yamalube and amsoil!!!!
ya i tried that super tech.. blew up 3 sleds in one season! but they were all somewhat modified. I had close to 15000 miles on my sx before i put new rings in,and the only reason was cause the mag side let loose. when it comes to rebuilds i am kinda like dont fix it if it aint broke guy.

Yep, those are rubber, so that is an issue.
I have at least 6500 miles on my venture, no rebuilds. You guys and your kilometers...
That would be 10,500km to you guys

actually the red head motors you could run used tranny fluid in it, and it would probably run fine. LOL. those motors didn't care what you ran in 'em.

I had 25 000 km's on my sx before i rebuilt it. I think it's probably a good idea to do them sooner because you don't want to be stranded on the trail with a break down. My 500 twin blew at 17 000 km's, ran great up until then.

I'm sitting at 9350 miles right now...
Replacements have included... track, 1 chaincase bearing and seal, 1 set of spark plugs..due for another set, on 3rd drive belt.... uummm I think thats all that has been replaced..
Not sure how many klicks 9350 miles is though.....I'm guessing about 3 billion ??

never had the head off my 03 viper, a tad over 9k miles starts easy, runs great, good mileage. basically feels and runs like when new I am also of the train of thought that rebuilds are not required maintenance.
I got 16500 km on my 02 viper, took the head off to put in opticool head gasket at around 250 km. That was when the Bender pipes we're put in at 250 km.

I ahve a 2000 SRX with 12,000 miles on it, mostly long cruising miles. I have not opened the engine yet but bought the parts to do a complete rebuild this spring. I would not suggest running a two stroke this long before performing a top end rebuild and inspection. Better off checking tolerances and bearings earlier than having to buy expensive parts due to a failure. The mileage just crept up on me, at the start of every season I kept saying, one more season, one more season.. Some say don't fix what is not broken but on a 2 stroke, a top end rebuild and inspection is preventative maintenance.
