clutch alignment ...offset...?

I did read about the offset but I am doing this by hand because this tool is getting harder to find and I need to get this sled done to move on to the next one....

Anyhow I do read that it should be 15 mm offset from the back off the sheave to not sure where?

I am wondering also does the primary sheave stay the same front and back?

Should it be on an angle in the front of the primary and the back of the primary. Kinda looks tilted from front to back... When you rev the motor the motor will shift and the primary will be straight while going.

If it should be off from front to back what should the front be? the back is 15mm and the front is what?

The offset of the clutches is 15 mm from the back of the inside sheave of the primary to the back of the inside sheave ofthe secondary. The clutches should be setup dead parallel to each other. Some will say to set them up at a slight angle with respect to each other to compensate for the twist applied to the engine under acceleration. I always set them up paralllel with an offest of 15 mm +/- 0.5 mm. The belts on my sleds last a lon, long time. Check the play in your jackshaft bearing, if it is badly worn, it will affect your clutch to clutch center to center distance. For an SRX, the specs are:

center to center distance is 267-270 mm
offset is 13.5 - 16.5 mm
belt width (important to check) is 34.5 mm to 32.5 mm

I will have to see how to get this offset of 15 since they are not on top of each other......Hopefully I will figure it out.......
 
What sled are you checking for the clucth alignment? You can check the offset on most sleds with a straight edge.
