Was out today on my first run since i put all new bearings in my drive line and guess what ,dropped a cylinder so stopped in the trail checked the plugs and middle cylider was running a little lean the plug was very white so put in a new plug and seemed to run fine for about a half mile then she came to a screeching halt and i mean screeching check all three plugs and they were all white engine seized could not pull the pull cord to turn it over,any ideas why it would run so lean,this is not my first trip out this year,had the carbs cleaned before the season staeted and put a few hundred miles on the sled before the melt down very frustrating,i think the sled will stay on the trailer until spring!!
 
sorry to hear that.Maybe an air leak somewhere..there is a reason for everything. Touch wood my 700 SRX motor has not failed me and it has over 6000 miles on the motor now. Will rebuild motor this summer and get her back up to specs again so that I can give her a little more then before..lol
 
I had a buddy do this last year. Sled died and one plug was very lean, and motor was stuck for about 5 minutes. Put new plug in and it fired up. Before I could get my helmet on and start my sled, it was stuck TIGHT. What may have been a simple 1 cylinder repair turned into a full out junk motor. nothing ussually ever fixes itself once a burn down starts to show its ugly head. Maxdlx
 
like bluemonster1 said, sounds like a air leak. Check your carb boots. Might have a crack in it. Also, check your needle settings. Just something to think about.
 
Thanks for the info guys ,i did have my air box off when i replaced my bearings maybee i will check it out i have a week off for the march break but i think it`s pretty well shot and probably need a total rebuild don`t know if i want to sink that much money in 02 viper might be time for a change or if i can find a viper motor out ther for a good deal.
 
it was above 0 when it happened,im wondering if my oil pump failed,i should have stopped when i changed my center plug and noticed it was white,but no one to blame but myself.
 
Double checked all the carb boots when i pulled the engine and everything was well sealled and checked for cracks and found nothing,still puzzled to why the center cylinder melted down?
