Sorry about the long winded title but I want it to catch someones attention who might have the right answer. What could this be. Bad crank, bad drive/driven clutch, I should also note that there is also a vibration in the left running board/bars which kinda scares me. hope the drive shaft isn't messed up. could it simply be a bad bearing on the jack shaft or drive shaft speedo side? . Check the chain the other day and it was fine. Also I should note that when I blew the belt it didn't completly let go, only half of the top layer came loose. Just looking for a few educated and informed opinions/answers.

When do you get the vibration? Does the vibration change with the speed?

WHEN THE BELTS COME APART LIKE THAT, ITS USUALLY CAUSED BY ALOT OF HEAT. WHEN THEY BLOW APART, ITS OFFSET OR CENTER DISTANCE. NOW IT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD BEARING SOMEWHERE. 3:16 (yammie tony)

Mine delaminated like that too. Did some clutching and put a new washed 8DN and rode hard for 200 miles and so far so good.YAMMIEGOD3:16 said:

I'd check the drive bearring.. It happened to my VIPER.. Driveshaft bearing on speedo side went out and granaded the chaincase and the bearring on that side rode it home to find a bearring sitting on top of the motor,Not good....
Also the driveshaft was tappered ffom 1 inch on the inside of the driveshaft to 7/8 at the end where the bearring sits...New driveshaft, chaincase and all new bearrings and haven't had any problems so far...Good luck hope it's nothing major...

sounds like you need to do a jackshaft and spedo bearing or at least remove and re pack them. had to do my et410 last winter because it was growling under heavy loads.
Also,check the track drive shaft mine had a low speed more vibration and less at high speed..
the shaft was broke right at the drive and on inspections i did not notice until my bearing failed and it took out the chain case....CP

hey (netefrog) i would just go get the jack shaft and drive shaft bearings for clutch side and i would get the jack shaft bearing from yamaha as it is torks drive instead of alan..and the set screws are larger then aftermarket and they come with lock tight.lol and i have a spare belt you could try to .but you said it did this before blowing belt right?

I've noticed a few posts like this lately. This exact thing happened to a friends SRX. It had a bad vibration that was worse the harder you were on the throttle and at lower speeds. Even seemed a bit worse in deep snow. We took everything apart and pulled off both clutches. Pulled the drive axle and chaincase and found nothing. Put everything back together and it worked great. The only thing we could think was that the belt blowing casued the primary clutch to move on the crank or even loosen it maybe putting it out of balance. Pulling it off and then a re-torque seemed to fix the problem. Try pulling your primary clutch and then re-installing. Make sure to follow the proper torque procedure.

SXLover had the same idea i had. I had a belt this year that cords were coming outta it. So i put my spare on knowing it had a slight flat spot. Took it for a ride and the tunnel was vibrating like crazy. Rode it like that for 20km's and said screw this and put a new one on and it rode like a cadilac and felt so smooth.
