well guy as you all know i fix powervalves i was contacted bby a guy off ebay about doing some valves and he asked how long it takes i told him i machine them all the same day ...and he could potencially have them back within a week ....so he sends me 8 valves and being a nice guy again i cut him a better deal on the price ....the valves showed up the day before my trip and i was very busy getting ready ...being the nice guy again i stayed up all night to finish his valves so i could ship them and he woldnt have to wait til i got back ....he said he wasnt in a big hurry since there is no snow there ...but than aftera week tells me he wanyed to upgrade to overnight and that he had sent 3 more valves than i expected so i cut him a better deal ...well he calls me on saturday morning at like 7in the morning after being up all night doing his valves wanting a tracking number ..but i was stilll in bed and paperwork was in the truck so i said i will email info by the afternoon ...but he didnt follow directions so i had no contact info to call him and tell him i have no email for him or a phonenumber since i was out of my area his number come up unknown...so i get a email saying that if he would have known it was gonna take this long he woiuld have just spent the money to buy new and be riding the same day ...cause he feels after i got paid i wanted no contacy with him ..so i tryied to explain i do dozens of guys valves a week and keeping track is hard to do and even harder since someone didnt follow directions and put contact info with valves ..so i sent his valves but overnight was not guranteed cause of were he lives i guess ...not to mention i lost money on the shipping due to the weight since extra valves were thrown into the deal ....telling me i have about ruined his season ...saying he got permit ,insurance ,and other expences just to have sleds but cant use cause no valves to put in them ....i belive i am a vary stand up guy and powervalves come first before anything else in my life ...i cant controll the post office and there shipping time and i offered to return his money since he was unhappy ....i know i have dealt with hundreds of you guys and as far as i know EVERYONE has been more then please with workmenship and shipping ....sorry to rant and rave but i am really upset that this guy is unhappy ...so i told him next time go spend the 1200 dollars and but new ...when i fixed all 8 and shipped them for less than one new one ...but once again i feel it is HIS FAULT HE CANT FOLLOW DIRECTIONS ..not mine ......not sure if he visits the board but i hope he does and reads this ...cause i know everyone here is happy with my work guess i am gonna stop doing canada or raise the price ...please opinions on what you guys think and what i should do .....rich

rich, i think you did what you could to try and make the situation as positive as you could. its HIS problem that he didn't include contact info and such, when he sent valves to you. also, he said that he didn't need them in a hurry, so then what's his problem all of a sudden?? as for his permit and insurance costs, well that's not your problem. that's just part of owning these toys. i guess some guys you just can't please, no matter how far backwards you bend for them.

You cant please them all no matter how good a job you do. You do a great service for a lot of people. Let this one go. He would not have been happy no matter what you did. Keep up the good work.

opinion

From your explanation there is nothing more you could have done to help this guy. Man I hope this doesn't effect how you do business with other canadians who need your services. I hope you stay open to us more reasonable canucks. Take care.

Sounds like you did nothing wrong if thats how it went down,to many good reviews on your work to tell me other wise.

Idiot alert!

Rich, You did all you could to "HELP" this idiot. Like I have said before you are an asset to TY. I hope he does post here. We'll straighten him out!
:die:

very happy with my valves, seems like i got em back before i sent them. lol
besides if he tried to buy new ones, besides the expense, he would of waited longer to get them, most dealers are lucky to have one in stock never mind 8.
as others said, when you deal with customers no matter how good your service theirs always some fool who can't be pleased

like a few people on TY, I remember who they are and when they want to buy from me again, that part is sold. Tell him to screw, you held up your end.

Rich, you are a good man providing a terrific service to many many Yamaha owners. My view is you went "above and beyond" to help this customer as quickly as possible. He stated he was in no hurry yet you repaired the valves right away. I have been in the customer service business for almost 35 years. I have learned to be very very careful when people tell me they are in NO RUSH for thier parts or service. I have found in many cases, this means they are trying to present themselves as being very nice therefore encouraging you to want to help them right away. I have learned to always give a customer a conservative completion date which I will work to beat. The customer service business is tough, dealing with so many personalities. How could you have ruined his season? He stated he was in NO RUSH since there was NO SNOW. Look at it this way.....had your service NOT been available, he would have been waiting over 10 days to buy new OEM valves at perhaps an unaffordable cost. Just the fact that you wrote this post to express your concern over not having a completely satisfied customer speaks volumes about your dedication to providing a terrific service. You can't please everyone and especially those who do not follow your directions which were critical to timely return of his valves. Keep up the great work, this site and the world need more people like you.

Canada is a big place, please don't group the good ones in with the ar$e holes.
I will say this, I hate when I find something on e-bay and it says will only ship to the U.S. Personally I EXPECT to pay more for shipping from the U.S. I'm buying it from there, either due to price or availability. Definitely charge more to ship to Canada, you are providing a service and you should be paid what you feel is fair. Saying you might not ship to Canada because of one person is like saying you won't ship to California because of a poor customer.
I will not do the Canadian thing and apologize for him ;) Sounds to me like he's a whiny B!T@H!!!

Although I am fairly new to the site and have not delt with anyone personally on this site, YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. The guy you helped out is a complete jerk, you did more than you should have in my opinion. Although I have looked at my power valves, I know if I have a pull through I will be in contact with you. From the sounds of it you are doing a great service with the valves!! Keep up the good work!

thanks guys i know i did no wrong ..i fix these for a hobby and since i am unemployed ...i know how it is not to have a part you need to ride ...i spend hours doing these ...i got 2 hours sleep before my trip and thats olny cause i over slept a hour ...i was just floored and upset ...like someone said when you buy out of the country you got to expect time delay...over night is available but it is not guranteed ...the olny guranteeded overnigh is thru fedex and costs 60 dollars for 3 valves .....nothing aginst guys from canada but no over night shipping will available ....thanks for the support guys makes me feel so much better about the service i supply to the site ..not to mention the money i am saving guys so they can take that extrs trip

Like said above no matter how hard you try your not going to please every one. keep up the good work!!! ;)!

X2 - Not suggesting you did anything wrong, but a conservative return date doesn't make for any surprises and if returned before promised, you're a hero. Sounds like you were upfront with the guy and as others have said, can't see where you could have done anything different.

Why would someone send something in the mail, expecting it to be returned, and not include return shipping info?

Thanks Rich for your work and I'll be sure to include a return address for my valves when the seaeson is over. Want me to write it on the valves with a sharpie? ;>)

As with everything in life, you can't make em all happy, so make yourself happy first. You held up your end and did nothing wrong.

my take on this is that you where an unone middle man and this chump was making deals on your work and screwed up on a deal, plus failed to do his part and give you contact info, which you should have charged him more for his changes and stupidity hell you could have just repaired them and put them on a shelf and waited for him to contact you about there progress and then said they have been done for a while but you didnt give me return info so now theres a storage fee of what ever!(full price) what a jerk!!!!!!!! sounds like someone thats never wrong, but is all the time keep up the good work my friends valves that you repaired are perfect

thanks for the support guys .....2stroken i fix the top of the valves were the cable pulls thru the alumnium ...i machine the top off and install a stainless steel top and remachine it to accept the cable ....
