Viper - Antifreeze in carb?

I just got SLP pipes for my Viper. I haven't touched a carb before but my neighbor is helping me & I've got the service manual too. Once we removed the air box assembly, we could see a small amount of anti-freeze sitting right in the bottom opening of all 3 carbs.

Anyone ran across this? I am assuming bad gasket(s)/seals(s) somewhere inside... any suggestions?

Are you sure its antifreeze? It might be injection oil pooling in the front of the carbs.

X2! I run yamalube and its a greenish color to start with. When you mix it with a little gas it looks just like antifreeze. It still might be antifreeze but i think you would have had some problems with the engine.

That was most likely spit back, oil/gas,very common on triples,normal

Is your coolant level low? I have a tough time believing it is antifreeze, because as previously stated you would most likely have fairly serious engine issues if you have coolant going through your carbs. I also think you would have smelt it if it was getting into your engine somehow....??

Who knows, I may be wrong as I have been many times before, but it just seems HIGHLY unlikely. If it were antifreeze I am as puzzled as anybody.

I lost a water pump seal on my 02 viper back in 03, most leak outwards but mine leaked inside the case filling the oil passage between the center & mag journals with a mixture of goop. The knerling in the impeller shaft would walk the coolant into the case.

True but the way it plugged my lower oil passage I could see it throwing coolant around in the case if it was leaking enuff.

As Super1c stated above, if its a/f then he has a much more serious engine problem.

Maybe...JUST maybe.... the coolant is leaking in the carbs... they are heated after all. May have a gasket gone bad or a crack starting.

All three castings have cracked at the same time?? Maybe, but I highly doubt it.
The only way I could imagine a/f in all three carbs is if a coolant line went into the airbox and sprayed the carbs after a shutdown.

Thanks for all of the suggestions & advice. I figured it out - the overflow hose on the a/f resevoir was routed such that it was discharging on the side of the airbox where the upper & lower halfs meet. Over time a small amount accumulated in the bottom of the air box & when we pulled it out... tipping it forward - a little a/f leaked out into the carb.

Anyways, easy fix - I just moved the hose. Got the rest put back together too & had just enough snow left to get it out last nite... those SLP pipes are awesome!
