if you are same then your stock jetting is good between 40 to 60 F.The jetting I have now is good for between 0 and 20 F. Amazing you have that set up and still run in colder temps and no Kabooming!!!!.You are probably loading up the motor to much with the HC's on a mild day.No wander you were winning races with that lean jetting..but you must of been on the edge. What your plugs and wash like? I should then see a noticable difference in my SRX's performance if I jet down to stock.I still have the DCS helping me out just in case.
never had a problem running in -35 weather back in January and my plugs were a nice cardboard color right now they are a little on black side so thats why I'm thinking of going down on jetting. My RPM's are right on at 8100 launch and 84-8500 @ 660ft mark another thing to try is going down more on gearing running 21/40

But I rode the sled that way(stock) first time I got it and was riding in way colder temps..but DCS would flash. So should be fine then for mild weather.I wander if I should put pilots at 40 then with stock jetting,I rather not do that.bluemonster1 said:the spec sheet for the srx in 0-800 elevation shows 150/148.8/148.8 in 20*F to 0*F.If I install the stock jets back...SRX.I quess they depended on the DCS to really do the job.147.5/146.3/146.3..they are rated in the 60*F to 40*F range and show to use 37.5 pilots....what the!!!that is a stock setup for 2002
For 40*F to 20*F ..it says to use 148.8/147.5/147.5 and 40 pilots.
But this sled comes with 42.5 pilots stock....
I have the 148.8 and 1-147.5 and short 1-147.5 to go that route.Ido have 40 pilots.
..go figure. So going from 2001 specs to stock 2002 specs stock sure puts it in the area of warm riding
60-40 F.. where did you read this? Since when do they put out specs for dirtbike riding weather?
I dissagree. Stock 02 jetting is NOT warm weather jetting by anymeans. Keep your 40 pilots, drop the needle 1/2 clip by using needle shims and go 2 mains smaller than stock 2002 for 42 degree weather. If your getting DCS, add a couple gallons of 110 to a full tank of fresh premium and watch it dissapear.

I gut out my air box in the spring and it works a little better, and its only 5 min and you can put it all back in! My plugs are burning really black now where it is warm but when I gut my air box the plugs get a little lighter and the sled is not so groggy!

I sold it.... I found alot of things that was not to my liking! The speedo was broken all the bearings were shot the suspension was cracked in a few spots which pointed all fingers too, the sled did not have original km. I washed my hands clean of that! I bought a 99 phazer for the kids outta the money, paid 775$ for it.Very clean sled new track and rebuilt motor. I bought new pistons and rings wrist pins and bearings and gaskets for my srx.I had enough with rebuilding other peoples abused junk! I think I am going 4 stroke next winter, Thinkin a nytro turbo

Interesting.bluemonster1 said:from the SRX manual
Is this from the 2002 owners manual or some service manual?
That jetting there is on the moon. I know that with 2 gallons of 110 mixed with 9 gallons of premium I ran in 0F with stock 02 jetting I got no DCS light. You have an 02, jet it down, run good gas and see for yourself. That chart is a joke IMO...
So will going down one benifit my sled or will it harm the engine in this weather need to get back to winning form LOL

yep..it is from a 2000-2002 manual on CD that I got it from..that's why it surprised me on the number/temp ratio's there.Yet needasrx told me he ran stock jetting on his 2000 srx all winter from -35 to above 0 temps without changes..so then why should I be afraid of jetting down.Tell you the truth when I first got the sled..it was a powerhouse with the stock jetting, just the DCS would come on in hard pulls a bit.He doesn't have DCS on his 2000..so I imagine he was running on the edge there..and yet didn't blow up motor.Since I put in jetting from 2001 SRX specs..I can feel a little less responsive motor..but safe. Like you say...Yamaha wouldn't of jetted that low on the SRX..but remember..there are different elevations out there were guys ride.Did Yamaha still just have stock jetting the same right across North America and then was it up to a customer of a new sled to figure out himself what he should be running.A lot of people never touched the jetting and still run the sleds.I imagine if you are in 800 feet above Sea Level and then one is 10,000 feet above..that guy should probably figure out he has to change jetting for that circumstance.
the only differance from your sled Blue is that I don't hold the fun flipper @ WOT for more than a 1000 ft where you go for as far as you can go LOL!!!. How's the snow down there here it's going pretty fast

Need better fuel! Stop adding fuel and start running better fuel. You need to pay attention to Yami Tony and a few others and focus on the quality of the gas instead of the quanity. Stock 02 jetting is safe to bitter cold but still will be a pig in 42 degree weather. Your simply to rich...bluemonster1 said:yep..it is from a 2000-2002 manual on CD that I got it from..that's why it surprised me on the number/temp ratio's there.Yet needasrx told me he ran stock jetting on his 2000 srx all winter from -35 to above 0 temps without changes..so then why should I be afraid of jetting down.a bit.He doesn't have DCS on his 2000..so I imagine he was running on the edge there..and yet didn't blow up motor.Since I put in jetting from 2001 SRX specs..I can feel a little less responsive motor..but safe.
