Exhaust Manifold Gasket

I noticed that my exhaust manifold is leaking oil between it and the cylinders. Do I need to change the gasket or can just clean and re-tork the bolts? Should I use anything else besides just the gasket (high temp silicone)? What is the tork spec for the manifold bolts? Thanks for your help.
 
Probably time for new gaskets. You wont need anything else besides the gaskets just clean everything real good. I dont have your sled but its 10 ft/lbs for my 96 xt and vipers. Maybe someone else can confirm this. CCC
 
Get new gaskets !

I have a service manual that covers 97 and up 500/600 twins and 600/700 trips it looks to me that it's saying 19 FT Lbs for exaust joint, Thats it I think, U don't really need to be worried about torque though, I had the same issue on my 97 600 twin and instead of trying to be cheap I bought new (Genuine) gaskets and tightened them down good with a 12 MM box end wrench, No leaks now.
 
New is a must !

Clean both surfaces thourally as super1c said, On my 600 twin those are kind of like a compression gasket mine were 3 layers of metal then an outer sealer of somekind, My dealer told me to install them with the sealant side towards the manifold he's a hillbilly though so if U hear different tell me, But mine does not leak now so something good must have happened,( In my opinion though if I have to take my manifold off for whatever the reason I will install brand new gaskets again, Once U disturb them they're ruined I think. Plus a too rich situation either from too much fuel or a oil pump thats doing wrong will exacerbate the issue hope this helps.

My SRX has a three piece gasket I assume similar to yours. I've had them off 3 times and have yet to replace them. The first two times they went back on dry (and sqeaky clean of course), no leaks. For insurance, I coated them LIGHTLY with copper hightemp the last time, let set up over night and again, no leaks.

IMO - Retorquing after a warm/cool cycle, letting the sealant set up over night and clean, dry lubed bolts is required.
 
probably not the gaskets. take off the manifold & put sealing side on a belt or disk sander. you will see what i mean. some have lots of warpage. just sand down till surface is true ( nice & shiney all accross seal surface ) & put back on...no more leakage!!

I have found a leak here on my 600 triple. Any concerns with these manifold bolts coming out? Anyone know the torq spec for reinstalling a new gasket? 2004 SX Venom ER 600.
