Hydraulic Brake set up for vintage racing

Curious if anyone has installed a hydraulic brake on 76 or 77 srx. I have a wildwood mater cylinder so that is not an issue. Interested if someone found a caliper that mounts to existing cable mounting location? or built a bracket for top mount or alternative approach to mounting behind the jackshaft in some manner. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Picture is worth a thousand word on this one. Great site.

Good one Bob! maybe a little "tap" going into the corner to help transfer some weight

I put juice brakes on my SR292 and Vmax540 oval sleds. I used a Honda motorcycle caliper and made a custom mount bracket on the SR. The Vmax I used a '98 ProAction chassis caliper and custom bracket.
 
here is a pic of the one we did on my exciter, a little more to it on a srx because of the caliper in the front instead of on top, but works the same. Used a common poo caliper and master cylinder from an Indy and a simple adapter bracket

I have been looking at this for awhile now and plan on putting juice brakes on my 77 GS 340. I know, "Whaaat?" But the thing is that the stock handle is too far away for the kids and even if they can grab it, the sled doesn't really stop. This has already cost me a hood and very nearly an irreplaceable perfect bumper!

I have been told, and am now looking for a handle and caliper from 95ish Polaris Indy. I can make a bracket from there to make that fit and have the larger GP 292 disc. If all goes well, my 70 SS 338 will get one too!

I agree with you guys on the race sled and as the stock cable brake stopped the track, could never see the big deal, until I bought my 98 SRX. One day while playing with the SRX and my old 750 back and forth, I forgot which sled I was on and very nearly ran the 750 into the trees! The SRX is unreal stopping power by comparison, for daily riding juice is the way to go! G.
 
well, we put the front caliper from an xt350 bike on a doo that needed more brakes. used a doo master cyl and flex line and fabbed up a custom mount that bolted into the stock location.
 
Hydro brake for 77srx

It would be great if you had a picture. I have a couple wildwood master cylinders and calipers. Polaris as well. I wanted to try and use the stock disk but maybe that is not possible. The stock mounting position on the front of the disc rules out most existing snowmobile calipers as they are top mount or mount or mount behind teh driveshaft forward facing. Building a beffy bracket is always an option.
