Need expert advice on Complete Viper build

the yamaha oem mtn skis are a direct bolt on, if you have the bolts and the collars/spacers that come with them, and you can adjust the ski stance by relocating the collars side to side.

Just bought a track off ebay. 144x15x2 track for the outstanding price off.......
$2.36 !!!! its costing me $35.00 total to have it shipped to me.
I know it is all beat up, but if it lasts a year or not at all, its worth the garage wall space!

Also looking at a set of phazer mtn skis for $90 with new carbides.. not a bad deal i think.

hey im 15 and all the i ideas that you have are the same as mine. i to am doing a complete viper rebuild and do alot of off trail riding. i recently just bought a ski doo renegade 136" suspension. last year i bought a rumble pack, 8 in rsi risers, extended cables, rsi bar pad, and had an outstanding time on the viper up in ny. i did alot of jumping and beating the shit out of it. i flipped it a few times from boondocking and bent the rh trailing arm and i wrecked the suspension about 3 times (snaped the axle shaft where it bolts to the chassis) but as of right now she is sitting in the garage stripped all the way down to the chassis. im also going to paint the hood black trailing arms and the radius rods all black. she will be sickkkkkkk i cant wait im soo stokeddd

that sounds awsome. thats exactly what i plan on doing this year..

You can add a set of phazer MTX skis to the list of parts i now own...

yeah i was looking at those to..i wanted to get c&a race skis but there to xpensive so im probably going to go with those phazer mtx skis

good advice Ding. But if budget is a major issue, i would like to add the idea of relocating the stock skid and adding rail extensions, either way you will need a tunnel extension, and then do what Ding said, less the skid. with the relocate, you can alter the approach angle slightly. i think the proaction can be tuned for what your trying to accomplish, if you choose to relocate it. however, if money is no object, go with Ding's theory.

I agree with Snowdad here, one can adjust/ tune/ modify even the Pro action skid here to work well. Many have gave up on the skid for their own reasons, but you do not have to. With a shorty Pro action, relocating it, and adding rail extentions (along with with a tunnel extension no matter what you do) would help IMO.

Mine is a Mt Viper, which istarted a 144". With a good set up and new Ohlins center and rear shocks (from an Rx-1, but revalved for my Mt viper's weight), I found a great all-around skid that I love.

But for your application, you might want to experiment with just installing rail extensions and a longer track. You'll also need a tunnel extension. Then if you want better off trail performance later, you can farther tinker with setting the skid back, replacing the skid, etc.

Basically the sky is the limit, so take in the tips and use your imagination to devise what you want out of your sled.

Personally I think it's a great idea. Yamaha mountain skis are among the best in the business today for off trail use. If you can find a way to make it work I say go for it.

Yep, the wide Yammi Mt skis are really good. They float as well as any other, pretty much. I'm amazed many powder guys swap them for any other skis, other than the Simmons Gen 2's if you go that deep!

I grabbed mine from my neighbor off of his Phazer Mt. His complaint was that they Steered too hard, so he bought Simmons Gen 1's. So I picked up his Mt skis for cheap with brand new carbides and I loved them. For off trail they rock. I have them on my Attak, and Slydog Powderhounds on my Mt Viper, another great powder ski!!!!!

Good luck!
