drive shaft bearings

Yamaha does not make bearings, they simply spec them and choose a supplier. Through the years they have used different suppliers. While there may be a difference in raw material quality and machining tolerances, it is not as much as some on here would have you to believe. If you buy the Yamaha part you are simply buying one of these manufacturers part with some really expensive packaging. In fairness to Yamaha though, it is quite costly to release a service part. The packaging and distribution is really a small part of the markup. When you buy from a bearing supplier you are avoiding the application engineering costs that have been factored into the dealer part.
