wheres the motor make power, what rpm?
as far as welding the pickup, its quite easy to do and is reversable once you have the extra tabs welded on or anotheroption is simply make a plate and bolt the pickup coil to it, keep a .025-.030" airgap to the flywheel magnet.
mrviper700 said:cummins, I see, your likely using hauck pipes your gonna need that cdi, so maybe the bracket would be the easiest fix for ya and simply move the pickup coil so you can run the 2001 race cdi and matching stator, flywheel.
Unless you have had the motor tuned on a dyno, sometimes the power isnt as high rpm as "the pipe guy" says when you buy them, it all depends on the porting, engine mods(compression),timing, along with the pipes. Never had that good of power output with the hauck srx race pipes, they made good peak hp(but narrow) at 9950-10,100rpm but made very low torque up thru the band,we engagaged the engine at 7000 rpm with those to get it to perform in the field on timers.
Ended up having much better engine performance and ET drop in modding a set of big bore 835 pipes with smaller stingers for drag racing, the peak power was then found around 8800-8900 rpm then. it made gobs more torque before the peak and was easier to clutch, went considerbly faster in 500ft.
