stealther27 said:Ya that was my original plan to just get a boss seat but cant find one anywhere, so as it looks those boss seats are alot shorter than a stock seat meaning two people cant fit correct? And stein I like your idea so u basically just made a riser out of wood and added foam could you give me more info or pm me. Thanks
I used the idea from the post that super1c posted above.Did not really like the idea of using wood. The wood will get wet and take along time to dry out properly. So i did the following:
For the seat riser I went down to a local HVAC (Heating and A/C) shop. Had them bend a U-channel 1.5"x1.5"x1.5"out of aluminum long enuf to go all the way around the seat plus a little extra. Needed to notch the top and bottom of the channel to go go around the corners.I also got two small sheets of aluminum from them for the top and bottom of the riser. I used the extra U-channel to reinforce the middle of the riser. Cut a cardborad template from the bottom of the seat and transfered that to the aluminum sheets. Rivotted the U-channel and upper and lower sheets together. Drilled large holes in the top of the riser to accomodate the use of sprayfoam. Also got a 1" band of heavy gauge straping from the HVAC shop as well and made a new seat strap over the gas tank.I used up some black vinyl and 1" low density foam for the edge of the seat risor and glued that on for a factory look.
As for the seat foam I got that a fabric store. Its a high density foam. I removed the seat cover 3/4 of the way back. Used 3M spray adhesive to set the foam in place. Stretched the cover back over and glued and stapled it back on with an upholstery stapler.

Thanks super1c im gonna check this afternoon and look for that thread hopefully can figure something out instead of spending big bucks on a boss seat I can make my own riser, only thing now is does anyone know how much a new srx seat cover would be since mine has a couple holes? Or I need to find a nice used seat.
i'll post this here, your pms are full
it only sits maybe an inch or two higher because of seat foam density, not that it is higher. I don't think you would be happy with it if your looking for higher. lighter and better looking are the only advantages. Boss seats ride great, sit great and look, not so good.
I use a boss seat on my daughters viper and i had one on my old venture, they do make them a different sled.

Not 100 percent on it, but it looks like they have a boss seat that would fit a srx on kjmotorsports.com......

I have rode both and i agree with BETHVIPER, a boss seat is better. But if you dont have 400 to 500 with tail light to spend on a seat, (which i do but refuse to spend that on a seat alone, but thats me!) the poor mans riser works just fine. My knees are shot from to many ski injuries back in my school days. Rode half a season without riser and was ready to give it up, then came across the seat risers and now im fine. Its not a boss but make it your own, you can go as high as you want. CCC

Here is what I did with a polaris pro-xr seat. It's not as cheap as a seat riser but it looks cool and is much higher and lighter than the stock seat.
