srx track/studs?!?!

OK my head is spinning from reading all these posts on clearence.

I need a straight forward answer:

I am buying a different track for my 2001 SRX700, I want 1/4 inch of stud past the track lugs for ice. Whats the tallest lug I can have with the configuration. I'm also leaning towards extroverts, but would prefer the 9's.
 
I just asked this question a few weeks ago.

It sounds like 1.075 in the tallest you want to go on the SRX. Not really that much clearance
 
I would go a 1" hacksaw track and really depends on the stud brand in order to determine the proper length.

If you want to go a 1 1/4 track you will have to change the drivers to 8 tooth and then gear the sled back up in order to achieve the same ratio. I would not wast the money as the hacksaw track we put on my bros 98 SRX was like night and day on the trail. Hooks really well with only 144 studs up the middle.
 
Do you want an ice drag setup track just a trail ride setup, 144 for trail mega bites and 192 Chisels for all out Ice dragging either in 1.06 or 1.2 would be my pick
 
Like mrsled said, hacksaw is one of the best choices. Been running one on my SRX for the past couple years with studs. It will rub the tunnel protectors and over time will wear a few of the lug tips off but, not too bad.
We put a 1-1/4 Ripsaw on a SX-R 600 with stock 10 tooth drivers but, I wouldn't recomend it. Had to clip a little off the lug tips to clear the tunnel protecters and custom made front heat exchanger protectors. We did stud it with Woody's Mega-Bites and they kissed the fins on the front heat exchanger slightly. It worked well and the sled has been running around for 3 or four years with no trouble.
Our riding group has become believers in the Mega-Bite studs over the past couple of years. They seem to hook better than the round ones. We make sure to install them with the flat sides paralel to the track lugs.

I have the stock Yokohama track on my SRX that is installed backwards and has 192 1.075 Im going to see how it does before I decide on a track
