1995 v max track question??

I just bought a 1995 vmax 600 for my daughter. Its in excellent shape (low miles, no body panel damage, runs great so far), except that the track is almost totally gone. I want to get a track for it, but i don't have much money, rught now. I see that it should be a 121 x 15 track. Does it matter if the track comes from Ski Doo, Poalris, or AC? Also, is track replacement very difficult? I can remove the skid no problem, but I have been avoiding messing with the drivers. Thanks, I can't wait for winter!!
 
As long as it's a 121 and 2.52 pitch you'll be fine. Track swap is pretty easy. Once the suspension is out it's only half a dozen more bolts. Just make sure you keep track of the order of the washers, spacers, etc.. in the chaincase.
 
Have you found a track yet? there is a guy in grand haven that would sell one fairly cheap, if you just want a stock type track. I could give him a call if you're interested, or give you his #.
 
should be able to get used around 100, not bad to install, i have done 3 on the vmax now and it only takes a couple hours total.
While you have the skid out make sure to change the bushings that are worn as well as the hifax if they are marginal.
 
Where would I get the bushings for that. I need a couple of them for my 1996 xt, too. Luckily, I bought extra bearings.
 
Go to any oem parts place, or dealership. I think dennis kirk even still carries the kit for the rear skid. I comes with all the bushings. I know they still sell it for the front end TSS suspension. CCC
 
I would put a want ad in the classifieds section. State your case that you just need a descent track to get your daughters sled on the trail and how much your willing to spend including shipping. Ask for pictures before you buy.
 
Parts at junk or scrap yards

I've been getting all my bushings and things at junk or scrap dealers. Less then half the price and normally the bushings are parts that don't wear a ton especially if you can find one off a low mileage machine. Plus if it's a large dealer you may find everything you need there, 1 stop, less time looking and less gas running around. In my book it's hard to replace less stress and less time worrying about finding parts. I'd rather wrench and drive then spend hours on the net saving $2 but again that's my opinion.
 
I got mine from a dealer on here and they weren't cheap for the XT replaced every bushing and a couple shafts and spent about 100-200 don't remember the exact amount, watch for the needle bearings thats the largest cost i had a couple of those i had to replace as well (2 more are shot right now actually).

It made a HUGE difference on my XT it had some chatter on smaller bumps and such that tightened it up a ton much better feel.
 
They are inside the shock eyelets as well as in the braces that are next to them, when you pull the shock out be carefull pulling the metal sleeve out and you should see them.
I highlighted 3 on the pic below (my skid before it was rebuilt)
There is also three more at the top of the shock.

I did twice on the top one the guy who runs a supposedly "pro shop" that did mine screwed it up so i have to it to another place for that one and a comet that i am probably gonna run this year.

I can get you some contact info of a guy i know from another site that does great shock work.
 
pm me. Thanks. I changed a couple of bearings today. I picked up a track, too. Lots to do before the snow flies!
