Hello.... Just wondering what to look for with this sled? I have a chance to purchase this for $2300.00... mint condition with 1400 miles... Currently I have a 1997 polaris xlt touring with 2200 miles on it. Other then the xlt being bigger, is the Yammy worth the upgrade? I would have to sell my polaris in order to get the sxr. Not sure how Yammy compares to the xlt w/the xtr12 suspension. I do mostly groomed trail riding.. I understand one is double sled and other single, but in general, motor and suspension wise which sled is better? My xlt has the updated motor, so no crank troubles... How is the Yammy on gas? how are the suspensions? I used to have a 96vmax and it was the stiffest worse suspension ever LOL... the xtr 12 on the polaris blew the suspension away, how will the sxr compare to that vmax suspension? any info would be great........ Like i said the sxr is mint condition, only changes he made was to have it studded and added rises to the handlebars(which im not sure is good or not, but i can always remove)
Sxr 700
At the time I had a 95 V-Max and thought it rode pretty good until I rode my friend's 96 XLT. She had triple pipes on hers and it performed very well. The ride was awesome. Suspension wise it rode like a marshmallow. I then bought a 97 XTC 600 which had the Proaction suspension. This sled was closer to the XLT but not the same. (ride wise)
In my opinion, the SXR 700 will be a better upgrade for you if you take the time to adjust the suspension to you. That motor in the Yamaha is about bullet proof if you take care of it properly.
On a side note, If you look around you can maybe get a nice Viper for the same money.

I'd pounce on it. Performance will be a better...Period. Suspention won't have nearly what the polaris has, but that 12 in the polaris slows that thing down considerably. And you will get better/measurable differance in fuel consumption. If it actually is in mint condition, pull the trigger on that bad boy. You will not be dissapointed.

Buy it you won't regret it. If you ride on groomed trails the suspension will be fine for you. I have an 02 with 8400 miles on it and the engine has never been touched. I'm even running the original belt.
