my stepson Bluemonster2(Scotty) is looking at a 98 SRX600,price is not bad.Supposed to be in nice shape.crank was updated in 99.Would he be happy with it or should he hold off until he can find a SRX700 instead.Can some of you guys who own or have owned a SRX600 chime in on the sled.Pros and cons on the sled.It should be decent,pushing over 100HP and quick I imagine.
 
pistons ffor this sled are insanely priced doug , and no aftermarkets either , you can drop $600/900 easy .. love the sled , holds its own pretty good vs other 600's

Great sled & good on fuel
Not quite the low end of the 700 but great top end.
Basically same weight & handling as the 700.
I have a few good clutch set ups as the stock clutching would hit 9100 rpm.
 
Yeah i might have a look today its out of town, 6200 km looks really clean. Im just scared I wont be able to find another low mileage srx whether it be 600-700. The ones I have seen have like 10000 plus km and people still want $3500 plus.
 
You guys might want too take a ride to Haydays you may find what you want there, Oh yea there will be lots of sleds to watch also
 
i got a 600 with heel clickers ....was my first srx ....i got no complaints ....hasnt even broke the 3000 mile mark yet
 
I put 12,7xx miles on mine. Like others have said it runs well. I've beat 600-700's and lost to others. It's all in the set up. A well set up 700 will never loose to a prefectly set up 600. It's no secret.

You'd have to check with someone more in the know than me, but from what I think I've read, a 600 is the way to go if you want to put a 780 kit on it. The 600 cdi timing is the prefered set up. Once you change the jugs everything else is the same except for the carb jets, and you would re-jet for a 780 kit either way.

Pistons are $150 US, but I only put 1 set in. Probably because I re-ring every 3000 no matter how well it ran. I like to take stuff a part and see how it's been running from the inside.
 
Its much harder to get motor parts for a 600 SRX


Few more bad things about them is that on a 600 SRX, you have the same weight of a 700 SRX but with less HP

They dominated the 600 class for a few years and that's about it. Might explain why they only made them for 2 years.

Tell your buddy to hold off for a nice 700
 
Hey monster, Polaris had a extremely fast and very light weight 600cc twin sled in 2002. I think it was the PRO-X and put out around 115HP Yamaha was still on their heavier triple cylinder 2 stoke mills and getting ready to debut the RX-1 ton. Id say bring a SRX 700 to the lake or go home.
