the 500 you started the thread on will do 92mph wot without a hitch if the clutching is good. the 2001 sx500r i had did that much once i fixed the gearing change they did to them in 00-01. hauled my 250lb butt around just fine and is still hauling around my 6'4" "little" brother. just is harder on gas than a tripple or a 4 stroke but still wiked fun. i still miss it sometimes when the trails are nice and twisty as i had it set as an awsome corner to corner sled.

ya as im gonna take lots of pictures and get them to tom and also post them up on here, also gonna try to get m freind to come who has a flip video, get some sounds of the engine running.
I dont mind doing little stuff like clutching or stuff like that, just not looking for a sled that is gonna need a lot of wrench time. I have had to many toys that take up all that wrench time (jeep haha)

what does the adjuster ring look like?
and im assuming normal parts (clutches, belt) are readily avaliable for this sled?

parts for a pro-action chassis? are you kidding me? go take a look in the classifieds and see how many SX SXR vmax being parted out or parts there are for sale not to mention what ebay has to offer
ok if a shock has adjuster rings with threads on the shock it is adjustable

Ok checked it out today and was very impressed with what I saw,
-All lights worked and the sled started right up first pull after we took the cover off.
-Track spinned freely, just some leaves in it(video below) and when the track was spinning speedo worked.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVC7eK5lzbs
-Sled didnt have hardly any rust.
-Here are the pictures and another video of it ideling.

I would like to get back to him tonight or tomorow at the latest cause you never know he may sell it!

What was wrong with the brake lever? windshield looks folded over at the top
It needs some cleaning up real good... skid needed to be sprayed out and under the hood. Needs to be gone through.
If you decide to buy it some things to do...
grease the idler wheel bearings including the front drive axle where the speedo plugs into. there is a plastic lip seal on the bearing that pops off.. just shove some grease in there on all those bearings in skid and drive bearings. i know its been sitting outside for some time.
take the air box apart make sure no mice built a nest in there and clean all the junk out.
clean the carbs. pilots and main jets.
inspect the internals on the primary clutch IE weights, rollers, and spring
Let us know what your going to do. Just remember, any major malfunction with the motor or whatever, you have more money parts then you originally invested in the sled.

Tom- does that track spin in the video look good to you?
Speedo worked while track was spinning also.
Speedo worked while track was spinning also.
its up to you man. im gonna let you make that choice.
but i will say that your not taking too big of risk with what you have into it from the start and wanted to point out some maintenance to do at first if you get it.

ya i am thinking about comparing price for a OEM seat to the price of getting it recovered at a local shop too
some on ebay and few people parting out sleds on here. talk to laneo and viperking first
