It is a 2000 sxr 700-now I have decisions

went up today and looked at it and took pics today, it is indeed a 2000 and not a 2001 like originaly thaught.. now i have decisions to make... $2200.00 is the least amount he will take for it... mint sled with 1300 miles and fully studded and 2 inch risers. I have a 97 xlt touring sled that im selling and someone buying for $1400.00. Since the guy with the Yammy is my brothers boss, he is letting me give him 1400.00 down, and take the sled and paying off the other $800.00 in payments.. Now i have to figure out if its worth it. Is it worth giving up my polaris xlt touring for this sled? hmmmm.. i dont really ride 2 people anymore.. last winter I rode 95% of my time alone on the touring sled.. Love the xtra 12 suspension on the trails.. I Have three more days to decide....is it worth moving up 3 years and moving from the polaris to the sxr 700 for essentially $800.00
 
Bulletproof engine, great fit and finish, good fuel mileage, and sled should last a long time. You may want to upgrade the skid for a better ride and it likely won't be as fast as your XLT without mods. However, you should get a sled that you can do a lot with though with lots of life in it. You could easily put another 10K miles on it.

Vipers can be had for the same price range . . .
 
this will blow away my xlt

my xlt is touring edition... tops out at around 90ish... the owner said this sxr should top out around 115...the one thing that i am afraid of is the suspension. I did have a 1996 vmax dx, and that was the worse trail suspension ever, i felt every bump.. the xlt has the extra 12 and i feel nothing.. so i hope this isnt the same skid as the vmax..
 
I would wait to make sure you have your XLT sold with cash in hand before I made any deals on another sled. Not to say it will happen but deals do fall through.

I would really try talking him into $2000 for that sled. It just seems fairly high for a 2000 SXR. You could find a nice 02 viper for the price he wants for the SXR or very close to it if you looked around and made offers with cash in hand..

I think 115 MPH out of a SXR is a little bit of wishful thinking. A properly tuned SRX can see these numbers but not the SXR. It just doesnt have the power of the SRX

X2.... Might want to hold out just a bit yet. The sleds are just starting to come back on the market from a long summer nap. The stock power and ride of a viper is much better than the sxr (just my opinion ). Or even a SRX would be nice, just no suspension. CCC
 
I've had some bad expereince with Polaris XLT triples from 95-96-97. Crank bearings like to go out. Known problem that has reduced their re-sell some. Personally, I beleive the Yamaha to be much more reliable and the SXR has some excellent suspension when adjusted properly for your weight and style.

$2200 seems a tab high (at least for Michigan.)
