how often were these a problem in these sleds? im looking at a 2000 sxr.. i am the least mechanicly inclined person in history so no way for me to fix myself. If i were to purchase this sled, and the w-arm went on it, is it a big job for the dealer or a local small shop to fix? i hate to spend 2000.00 on a sled and then pay another 500.00 to have this so called w-arm fixed.. I guess all sleds have there black eyes.. but i just want to make sure im not buying a ticking time bomb with the suspension.. I dont hit mogul jumps, i do mostly trail riding, but might incounter some bumpy trails.. just wondering how much abuse these normally took before they went.... sled has 1300 miles on it as we speak..sorry if this is a dumb question, but i only have a couple days to decide wether im trading my xlt in for this sled and wont have tons of money this winter to spend on repairs...Im not even too sure what a w-arm is, or what goes into replacing them.. I dont have welding equipment either...thanks..oh, and i promise,, i wont bug with questions after this one... atleast until oct, when im gonna ask help with cleaning carbs...NOT...thats a $120.00 job for my local shop..thats bad, i dont even know how to clean carbs...LOL

the SXR's are tough sleds.Mine is a 600 and jump her pretty hard at times and she keeps on ticking. As for the w-arm,they can be welded and reinforced.I have 2 sleds and 4 w -warms(2 spare) They have all been reinforced and welded with no issues at all.Holding up great. My suspensions have held up great.Just got to make sure your bushings are tight and everything greased up.I even put in extra grease zerks in key areas to help.I put on over-sized wheels and my hyfax seems to last forever, and wearing even.Keep your limiter straps on the looser side also and get some adjustable transfer rods. You'll love the sled.

I replaced the "W" arm on my 2000 SXR700 last year. Noticed the cracks on my after winter inspection. Sled had over 10,000 miles on it at the time. Friend has the exact same sled with over 11,000 miles and original "W" arm.

And don't ever worry about asking questions!!! Keep asking!
