for those that were helping me the other day on my stud questions... I did purchase this sled yesterday...got it home...now have more of understanding.. there is 144 studs that dealer installed last year.... counted 24 studs on each outside of the track, looks like there is a stud on every section(or whatever they call it) on the outside. Im gonna remove all these studs(48 total) and just leave the 96 in the middle. my question is.. the ones that were installed in the middle are mostly installed right on the edge of the little window looking things.. wont this make the studs more likely to pull out? they are shaped in the big V, but there are quite a few that are right on the edge of that window looking thing. are these ok to leave there? or is the track weak there and chance tearing out the stud? thanks

moving this back up

it is 144 studs, but its on every other section on the outside, not every section. I am removing those, but im concerned about all the inside ones, they are all on the edge of the slider windows or whatever those windows are called...im afraid they can be pulled out easy. I dont have the drills to reinstall, should i just remove all the studs? all 144, would 144 holes jeopodize my track? or are the inside ones ok, even if they are toucing the edge of the slider windows on the track?

Can u take a pic for us to see? If there right on the edge how big is the backer plate. This is why someone from your other post suggested using double backers for the ones in the middle. Will prevent pull through, or at least decrease the likely hood of it happening. Not hard to do. Even it you doubled up all the edge ones. The v pattern sounds right but how close is close to edge? CCC

here is the pic

as you can see from the picture... the outside studs are coming out, but i wasnt able to get a good picture of the inside ones along the window edge... as the V gets wider the first 1-2 studs on the wide part of the V are directly on the edge of the slider window.. these are the ones im afraid of.. as the studs go up the track they get closer, then the next V starts and the same thing, the 1st couple studs are right on the edge..thanks

and i mean

right on the edge...there is no rubber at all showing... thanks again..i might remove these studs, but then that would leave me with like roughly 72 studs or so in the whole middle of the sled, wouldnt this defeat the purpose of studs, and actully put more pressure on the existing ones?

I see. I dont think you will have a problem with them. remember the hole for the stud is sill set in. Yes it is on the edge and it will create a bit more stess but IMO i think it would be ok. Bet bet would be to go the double backer route. You can get a track bit at any dealer for a couple bucks and double backers are cheap. This would help ya with the pulling through issue on those couple studs. Dont have to do the whole V, just the ones on the edge. CCC

Finally got pic up of mine!!

studs

Those won't be a problem with a little care while riding. People tear studs out by spinning the track around corners and over rocks like fools.

Studs closer to the rails actually do the most good. The slide rails plant them better. Good luck.
