hey guys. i have a 97 sx 700. triple pipes and all the goodies. put a mm 136 suspension in it and love the sled. last year i installed a mountain performance transfer enhancement kit and it rocks. but ever since i put it in i started having track ratchet reel bad. i even installed a set of anti ratchet drivers and it still ratchets like crazy. i keep trying to tighten the track up but its just keeps compressing the suspension. i know that im missing something. how do i set up the rear suspension to prevent this ratcheting. i already broke a drive shaft which led me to installing the anti ratchets. thx in advance guys.

have you tried adjusting the straps for the tranfer enhancement kit? could be a place to start. if you dont have the info available, i do. also, if you installed this yourself, the rear crosshaft you removed from behind the rear skid scissor can be reinstalled or relocated to limit the transfer. acts like a stop. i made 2 additional holes for a total of 3 counting the stock location. i would start by adjusting the straps back to neutral, check track tension, and then play with different settings until you find the happy spot. track, snowconditions, and any studding will also affect the set-up, as will shock settings.
yes i installed it myself and i did play around with it a little last year but i ran outa snow. i was also told that i could adjust the rear suspension sit-in and that would help??? can u get a picture of the extra holes u added for the removed crossmember?
i just drilled them in-line with the existing hole, about 1/2" apart. sleds in the trailer and the trailers not here, but it will be soon. what are your skid shocks set at now? i ran the front of rear in the stiffest position, and the rear of rear in the softest. occasional ratchet on hard pack or in deep fluffy powder after long pulls as the track appeared to be "ballooning". but i did have to play with track tension for changing snow conditions. i have a similar set-up as yours on four sleds: 2-141's ,144, 151. all have transfer kits, all have antiratchet drivers, and all will ratchet at one point or another, but i run my tracks really loose. you deep snow mountain ride or trails?
how is it compressing the suspension when you tighten the track?
are you using the nuts on the rear axle to tighten the track?

Did you check your arms for breaks?
whats the position of the rear scissor? is it standing vertical, leaning backwards or forwards? i have yet to install one of these kits and not have slack in the straps with the skid weighted.
right now the sled is on a stand, the straps are tight, and the rear sissor arm is leaning slightly twards the rear. when i put the sled on the ground, the straps get more slack in them and the sissor arm rolls back more. as for the w arm last i checked it had no cracks but ill have to look it over really good to be sure. the one strange thing i did notice is that the spring on the rear, rear shock is bowed and rubbing the shock a little. when i say a little i mean its scratching up the sticker but not tearing it off.
oem shock? that should be a rather large spring and shouldnt be doing what your describing. throw the cross shaft back in, this will limit the rear scissor from tilting any further back. whats the straps set at now? try af and gj. are you all the way up to ae and hj? you have to play with these to find the sweet spot for the snow conditions. i found them to NOT be a bolt and go. too bad no one at mpi can help either, unless you can get ahold of mac directly. i just carry the necessary tools for strap and track adjustments and deal with it as necessary. did you add any rear drop brackets during the skid swap? how did it work prior to the addition of the transfer kit?
the straps are let out all the way right now. i did install the rear drop brackets when i swapped skids. i had a totalled out mm that i picked up so i was abe to easily transfer everything over. the skid worked great b4 the transfer kit. i would just re install the transfer rods but i cant get over the difference it makes. its awesome. i have a rear suspension that i picked up out of a viper and i plan on swapping in all the new parts (except the 136" rails) this fall. the shocks that are under my sled right now have around 8000 miles on em. by the way guys i thank you for all the help so far. there are not many places u can go with a question and have this many ppl willing to help in 24 hrs. thanks again guys.
take the straps back to nuetral, af-gj, put the crosshaft back in for a stopper. the scissor will hit it and make marks, but i havent had a failure in 3000 miles. then adjust your track slightly looser than you would normally, and play with it all from there. check that rear shock for a shaft bend or coil bind.
