There's a new in the crate 2002 SRX700 in Ebay, with pictures. That would be fun to unwrap for Christmas!

For the buy it now price they better put all new bearings in the skid and the chaincase and everyelse. Those bearings have to be dried out not having been rotated for 8 plus years. Awesome find but you might have to put some money into it right away, I don't think the warranty would cover wear items.

Another guy posted this also. Way cool but way too much money. Would need to be gone through top to bottom. CCC
MSRP on my 2002 was $8499 back in 2001. I got a 4% preseason discount in august 2001
It will really take a special buyer for this one

I'd be all over that if I had the $$. Thats my dream sled. Brand new SRX.
better remove the link and just post a number or something, the TY police will be here to remove this thread
if I had the cash, this sled would be in my living room

Lots of bearings have been sitting in parts WAY longer then 2002. You could end up installing older ones then you took out.
Unless they have water in them, i'm sure they are fine. We use new old stock bearing for 70's sleds and they are fine

GUYS, MY DREAM CAME TRUE. I BOUGHT MY 2002 SRX EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. GOT MINE IN NOVEMBER OF 2004 FOR $5800. MY DEALER RETIRED IN 2004 AND HAD THREE SLEDS LEFT IN THE CRATE. READY !! A 2002 VIPER, A 2001 SRX , AND MY 2002. WHEN I WENT BACK TO MAKE THE DEAL, THE 01 SRX WAS SOLD, AND HE WAS ON THE PHONE WITH A DEALER TO TAKE THE 2002 SRX, DON,T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THE VIPER. ALSO, IF THIS SLED IS BEING SOLD AT A YAMAHA DEALERS, YOU BET YOU WILL STILL GET A WARRANTIE. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW NEVER SOLD 1995 VMAX 4 800 IN 2002 THAT WAS ONLY USED FOR THE AMERICAN SNOWMOBILE MAGAZINE SHOOTOUT. SLED WAS FULLY COVERED UNDER YAMAHA. 3:16 (yammie tony)

I can see your point, but bearings on a shelf are sealed in plastic, the bearings on the sled are seeing humidty, heat, cold, etc.

And they said in the auction it's been inside a warehouse (moderately climate controlled I'm sure) and still in the crate. Just have it dealer prepped and ride it!!!!!!!
Mike
All depends on the way it was stored -it may be fine.
It absolutely amazes me that such a gem shows up 8+ years after production!!!
IMO:
This sled will be as good as it would have been if you bought it in 2002. If you look at the cardboard and metal frame it has not seen too much of an adverse storage.
If I didn't already have my 2002 I would have to seriously consider purchasing this!

that's soo cool when a sled like this is just "found" in a corner of a warehouse. how do people like forget about this kind of stuff and not try and sell/get rid of it sooner?? it would be cool to have for the novelty of it, but unfortunately i don't have extra $$$ laying around to make the purchase. some collector will probably end up w/it.
i hope some punk doesn't get ahold of it and pound the piss outta it and destroy it.
