torque limiter

I built my own for the red spring. Chunk of threaded rod, couple of big nuts and a washer on the bottom, little washer and big nut on top. Throw it in the vise, drop clutch over rod, tighten top nut till snug, remove the six bolts and then back off the nut. Easy peezy, cost a couple bucks and a trip to the hardware store.

You dont need a compressor, just a friend to help out, I put my HC red spring in while the clutch was on the bench with the help of a friend to hold the cover down.
 
So will I just be okay if I leave plenty (a few mm's) of "play" in my secondary rather than lining everything up perfect. This is a "floating" secondary, right?
 
The yamaha secondary is a floater. You adjust the offset and center to center with the motor mounts on the motor. Some guys that strictly drag race (and maybe trail ride, but I've not seen it) will lock the secondary and use the solid motor mounts so that there is no wiggle.
 
setting up my clutches for the torque limiter. Center to center spot on. Offset with electric start is 12MM from edge of ringear to back of secondary sheave. Front of primary (closest to clutch) is dead on at 12mm to secondary. Back of primary to secondary is maybe 12.5, 13mm. Is this a problem, i dont think i can get any closer or am i just splitting hairs at this point. Want to make sure before i locktight and bolt down. CCC
 
Hello. I just got a Viper a week ago and it's my first sled. I've been looking at this torque limiter mod and I checked my sled and it looks like it has the mod on there. I took a pic can you guys confirm if it's the dogbone mod? Looks like it from the other picture in this thread but mine is a top view.
